Hello from East TN

One more welcome from a western NC guy . Hey if you live in the north eastern section of Tn you have to cross over to Yancey County and visit Prices Creek General Store - and gun shop with about 800 firearms on display .

There is a forestry range in the NE TN area linked below .

I work down that way, Im a Supervisor over at Malibu boats. Howdy neighbor!

You’re just down the road. I’m in Lenoir City and about 3 miles from you. Are you new to the area?

Are you aware that you’re about a mile from the FOP range that you can join?

I'm greeting you from "sort of" East Tennessee---in the central time zone---right on the edge---maybe 8 miles from the line---never mind the line isn't where it was starting out---back when it made at least some sense. Of course making sense has never been a prerequisite for anything the "gubmint" does or doesn't do. The good news is the line is now where the folks who live on the east side of the line wanted it to be in the first place. Score one for the little guys!

And never mind all of this has nothing to do with the fact we're glad to have you join us----it's a good move! This is the place where somebody already knows what you might want to know---and will be happy to tell you all about it. The collective knowledge will fair boggle the mind!

Yeah, Im not a member at any range currently, we live on 100ish acres and I have out to 500 yards on steel targets in my back field. I grew up here, born and raised on Highway 116 above Briceville. Other than 5 years in the Marine Corps from 07-12 Ive lived here all my life.

It's handy having your own range, isn't it?!

We have about the same---conveniently. Not so conveniently it's a thousand or more. I haven't bothered to measure that----and ain't likely to do so anytime soon!

I’d say you’re fine for a place to shoot. That kind of space is getting hard to find. So many farms have been sold and subdivisions built.

I have a friend with 80 acres just down from me but too many houses around and have another friend with 1000 acres but too far to drive. I belong to ORSA which is just 20 minutes from my house so I’m good on places too. I’ve been here all but 3 years and keen within a 30 minute drive of where I’m at for 72 years. I tell folks I live in paradise. It’s gorgeous country and the locals are really fine folks.
