Steak fries, those thick many shaped potatoes offered in too many restaurants, are an abomination. No consistency exists, some too mushy, some too over fried and occasionally a few just right.

The traditional french fries are what any decent restaurant should serve---long, a quarter inch thick and no more.

Steak fries are but a cheap way to serve a fried potato.

Cardiologists need not comment. :)

it's very rare to find a restaraunt that uses an animal fat in their fryer these days. not sure why a cardiologist would have issue with "vegetable" based oil fried potatoes.

Not a steak fry fan here. I rarely eat any french fries because they’re not really good for you, but I will say about once a year I will go by McDonald’s and grab some.

I like them sliced into wedges with garlic powder, salt and pepper then put on the grill until done. Oh, sprayed with Pam before grilling.

Hmmm...makes me wonder about making them on a Blackstone griddle...

I usually bake them in our Ninja toaster oven.
