I own many of the K38 combat masterpieces. All of mine happened to be the 4" variety. The one day I will have a 2" because I think they look awesome

Very few of my 4" guns are photographed but there is one that is I think looks exceptional

This is one of a very small number of revolvers that Doug Turnbull took andadded his color case hardening finish to the frames. This is product code 178009

I think his work makes a good looking Smith and Wesson look Great

I've had this Model 18 since I was in high school (Many years ago!). Somewhere along the line, I had it converted to a round butt grip:

I forgot about this one. A pre 15 that found me at a LGS. It had a very nice set of N frame combat grips on it but the owner thought the fellow that traded for a Shield might have the original grips. Sure enough, a couple of weeks went by and the numbered grips showed up. True story.

Someone carried this beautiful gun as evidenced by the high edge wear. I'd like to see the holster and the man.

My dads 15 was the first revolver I remember shooting back in the early 60’s. Since shooting his I’ve had a love for them. Smith hit the sweet spot with J frames in general but especially the model 15.

I’ve posted this one several times but love showing it off. I bought it close to 35 years ago for my young son to shoot in IPSC. The finish was pretty rough but mechanically excellent. I had it bead blasted to remove pits and electroless nickel plated after changing out the front sight which was a big improvement. I then had a trigger job that yielded one of the best triggers I’ve ever felt. I still have the original stocks and box as well.

After cleaning up my recent gun show adoptions, I realized some of my other 2" 15-3's were a bit more pristine in appearance than this one...Apparently I spoke the words out loud because this veteran spoke up and said, "Not to worry, sir, I may have a few scuffs and bruises, but I'm as fit and agile as ever"...

I apologized to the old soldier for thinking aloud, and it replied, "Sir, since you regularly carry a 97 year old ancestor of mine, would it make sense to mount a pair of comfortable combat boots on me so I might join it in carry rotation and learn from the experience?"...

Clearly this warrior was not ready to join its brethren in the safe, and preferred activity in a more useful purpose...I happened to have a pair of smooth rosewood target stocks nearby which had been shaved down on the bottom by a previous owner...I had been looking for a candidate to wear them, so after its emergence from Dunkin Gunwash, the still capable veteran tried them on, and found them to be a perfect fit!...

Therefore, may I present to you my latest volunteer in my carry rotation......Ben

Me too, I'm a sucker for them...I saw two at the gun show today, one blued, one nickel...I made an offer for the pair plus a 2" post-war M&P in the box...Lo and behold the guy apparently needed money and accepted my offer...Now I have more guns to clean...Why me, Lord?......Ben

I posted my 15-3 earlier in this thread (post #31), but for some reason I never seem to think of the below gun as a "Combat Masterpiece" - but it is a Model 15. So here you go, my Model 15-9 Nickel, McGivern Tribute Heritage Series gun...
