I recently picked up an unfired Model 24-3. It’s a really nice revolver! Great blue finish. It came with an original S&W branded holster that was available on a limited basis with the gun. I also found a copy of a period Guns and Ammo magazine with a review of the gun.

Had one years ago as well it's 29-3 snub twin.
They were kind of a conundrum in that snubs are best suited as concealed carry pieces and at the time I couldn't vision ever carrying them concealed.
Kinda regret selling them as they were neat varients , just thought they were too big to carry and prefer longer barrels for the range.

The big bores are simply too heavy to conceal carry but they tote around just fine when out in the pastures walking the fence lines.

Models 24, 624 and 657, I have a couple of the holsters that came with the 24. Though not the most practical gun they certainly are pieces of art.

Beautiful example of a 3” 24-3. I believe it’s the first N frame with 3” barrel, round butt and combat grips. I recently found a the factory holster 624 for $20 at a local swap meet. I like it better than the holster for the 24.

Very nice! I’m lucky enough to have one as well. Just to revolver though, no accessories. I’ve also got a more recent 629 “Deluxe” that I de-locked. It wears slab side Combats most of the time and actually gets shot. I’ve got a soft spot for big bore snubs.

I looked for years to find one of these and came up with one and its correct grips, box and docs last year and got the Lew Horton letter. Now it seems they are everywhere. I believe they did make over 5,000 of them so not surprising that they are starting to "cycle" through collections.
Does anyone know the serial number range of the revolvers that came with the holster and was it an S&W made holster or an OEM supplier?

As I understand it, there were about 1000 holsters made for 5000 guns. This is the case for both the 24-3 and the 624 LH guns. The pancake style of the 624 holster carries much better than the one for the 24-3. They were available for purchase but did not come with the gun.

Great "Score..."

Yeah, I've got one just like her. Same everything, OEM Smith-Holster to boot too. Extremely nice trigger both in DA/SA, timed tight and right, lovely Blue finish, ready for work!
Great find and that is a special "find" at that as that won't come along every day with the holster as well.

More Pics Please!
