I picked up this 4” Baby Russian, serial 19185, the other day online for a good deal. It was shipped July of 1877, it’s been factory refinished on 3.75(No service records) and is wearing a single star on the cylinder along with the 3.75 stamp and a R-N in a rectangle. Serial numbers match on the butt, barrel, and latch.

The gun needs a little work, it came to me with the strain screw backed out, the ejector doesn’t move very much, the cylinder stop spring seems a little soft, and the hammer/firing pin looks to have been sanded on.
I’ve got a source for original black rubber stocks so I’m going to put those on it.

This is my first 38 Single Action so bear with me.
What parts interchange on these?

I know that I'm preaching to the choir, but the strain screw should be tightened all the way. The ejector problem might indicate that the extractor cam gear was not installed incorrectly. A photo of the gear installation might help. Let's hope this is not a more serious problem. The cylinder stop spring is not too robust, so it doesn't scrape the cylinder badly as it turns. It only needs to catch and hold the cylinder in battery. I can't comment on the hammer/firing pin sanding as it is not shown in the photos.

By the way, the 4" is uncommon. Nice snag.

Thanks for the reply, check your messages on the collectors forum I sent you one about parts for your model 1 1/2.
I’ve been advised these can be very difficult to take apart. I’ll try and find some directions on breaking one down and then I’ll take some more pictures.
