SAT (screwdriver) Question. How old?

I have a solid blued/black SAT 9 row knurled SAT. Can someone tell me the years they were made. Google was no help.

If you have SCSW 4th Edition, there are dates for the SATs listed. I am on the road, so cannot look it up right now. Here is a chart that RKmesa put together. It does not give a date, just says Post War.

Yes I do have the that text. I'll check it out. Not sure where to look but I'll figure it out.
 
If I remember correctly it is near the front of the book. There is a section that talks about grips, boxes, SATs, etc. I think your tool was discontinued around 1958.

Good memory, pages 55- 56 4th edition, Standard Catalog of S & W. the blued SAT was made 1940 - 1958. One of them came with my pre-model 29 in a black box.

i think I'm going to work on a visual representation we can work off of in the future with photos and dates based on the information available.

The 44 Magnum was introduced in January 1956. The sight screwdriver shipped with it had a knurled aluminum handle.

That is the one I am familiar with. This one is included with a pre model 27 1952 My first black SAT. LOL sounds kind of funny.
