Bowie Knives

I've only got one that meets the 10"qualifier, a Randall Confederate Bowie, 12" blade, nickel silver hilt, and walnut handle. It feels great in my hand.

I have this Randall Bowie...maybe a few others but no pics.

My Confederates .

Not very practical, but for some things they are just the ticket.

For all you Randall fans here's a complete matching set of Randall's big Bowies. Each of these knives feature center cut Elephant ivory and .999 pure silver hardware.

You folks with the Randall Bowies make me very jealous, and of course, Rick's superb collection of the matching set Randall Bowies with Ivory and Silver make me drool uncontrollably. Maybe some day......! Thanks for sharing!

Where it all started...

I know that this is an old Post, but I couldn't resist. We just got back from a 2-week roadtrip around the Gulf of Mexico and East and Central Texas, which included a mandatory stop in San Antonio and The Alamo. It seems that all the fascination with bowie knives was of course popularized by Jim Bowie and his Iron Mistress! I don't believe that Jim's famous bowie knife was actually fabricated from a meteorite as claimed in the movie ("The Iron Mistress", 1952), but it was an entertaining film. Enjoy!

Thanks for bringing it back up. Because there's been a while since it was last commented on, hopefully there will be some new Bowie style knives to post like SmithNut did! Unfortunately, after looking back through it, some of the pictures have disappeared.:(
