Thumbing through my Bass Pro Black Friday circular, I found Leupold VX6HD 3-18x44s on sale for $1299, $600 off.

Off to the Vegas Bass Pro I went. Before proceeding to the optics counter, I made a pass through the gun library, where I spotted this cherry 2.5" 66-2 w/Moose Brand leather rug for $599 Paid for the gun, $586 OTD (with vet discount) and grabbed the scope before heading home. D

awesome find! I had the opportunity to buy a 66-4 with some ammo but I decided against it. The gentleman originally told me it was a 686 and then sent pictures of a 66-4..... I was disappointed to say the least.

Nice 66 CH, I think that was a good deal. That is a lot of scope. What are you going to put it on? My vintage Redfield is on a Ruger 77V from the mid 70's in 22-250

I was looking at the VX5HD 3-15, but for the same price I was pleased to get this scope for the same price. I have a VX6HD 2-12 and really like it. I just mounted this scope on my Christensen Arms Ranger 22. I prefer side focus or AO to rimfire scopes.

CH4: Nice pickup, that snub 66. Wonder how many of our younger members realize what a primo gun the snub 19 was, around 1969-70. The snub 66 arrived later, of course. BTW, is that a custom Python in your 'cave' photo? Never saw a bbl setup like that...

Thanks!
I agree with you in that many of our younger folks, and many middle aged folks, don't realize what gems 2.5" 19/66s are. In fact, the counter person mentioned they have a hard time selling revolvers and that the Vegas Bass Pro is having a huge sale from December 12-24.

That's not a custom Python, it's a new Colt Kodiak with Harrett grips and DSM front sight.

That is AWESOME news to me! Maybe that means that we will be able to buy our vintage revolvers for cheaper prices! Something tells me that we won't be that lucky.:(

Great pickup! I already have a cherry 2.5" 66, and wouldn't have hesitated to grab that one at that price myself. Gotta love being able to grab one at a "Can't get hurt" price.
