I picked this up and I'm trying to determine the year.

It's a 48 page catalog, about 6" X 6" made sometime in the early 1900's. It's very old, the model of 1905 is in there. There are no dates but there are references to two shooting competitions won by S and W revolvers in March and April of 1904. My feeling is this is a pretty rare catalog because there are very few images of it on the web and the ones that are there may be this specific catalog. it has a lot of history and artwork and covers all models including single shot target barrels for the 1880 and 1891 and extension target stocks offered at that time.

This link shows the cover and a couple of pages: Main

The Revolver catalogs ran from about 1905 to 1912. 1905-1906 copy had a black cover, the 1907-1908 had a green cover with black lettering and shows the New Century Model, and the 1909-1912 had a green cover with red lettering and shows the 38 Perfected Model.

Great thanks - this is the 1905 - 1906 Copy then with a (faded) black cover. IO just added a picture of the single shot target stock extension page on the link.

Isn't it interesting that the posted catalog refers to the models 1902 and 1905 as hand extractor, and not hand ejector.;);)? When did S&W change this reference?

I am not suggesting we should change how we refer to S&W revolvers!

More data needed-
"about 6" X 6"" doesn't work. There are three catalogs with that cover. They vary slightly in size, so I need exact measurements.

Does it show the Triple Lock (New Century)?

6 1/8" height and 6 1/2" width, no Triple Lock (New Century) and thanks for the help.

They did use "hand ejector" throughout the catalog for other models. I'll try to get more scans. I'm just a little reluctant since it's all pretty hard to read with the light brown print and faded tan pages - I'm adding as much contrast as I can.

Gun Relics, do you have the SCSW 5th Edition?
There is a picture that looks like the same catalog on page 571.
On page 573 it says...

The Revolver 1905-1906 Black cover 6 3/8" x 6 1/8" 48 pages.

$500-$1000

Here's my copy of the 1907-08, I believe, showing the New Centruy and the cartridge designed for it.

That's it, thank you! It's published by Chasmar Winchell Press as described. The measurements are the for inside pages, not the cover. I guess that was a lucky find.

What a huge help. I've never noticed those catalog pages in the standard catalog. Little dubious on the prices :)

The SCSW5 did not list all three catalogs and I have never seen "The Revolver" bringing $500 to $1000?? Here are the 2 different pages from the 1912 edition.
