Try IMR 4227. It is available, and has a similar burning rate to 2400.
I was just going to post this. There is a blurb in this month's American Rifleman
Also, I was in Walmart the other day to buy some milk (cheapest in town) and I walked past the ammo counter. Federal 22 RF price went up by $6 a brick. Now 9 cents a round.
I'm not happy. (and I'm not another dwarf either)
...Blah, blah, blah, don't worry, good company, blah, blah, no lost jobs, still make in America, blah, blah, we are looking out for Americans.....blah.
...Alliant (AKA as Vista, AKA Czeck) discontinued production of Bullseye, Unique, etc...
IDK, when 9mm factory ammo was scarce and pricey, the manufactures put out a lot of information to calm the natives. This sounds a lot like that. They wouldn't dare tell a customer that their canister powders aren't going to be produced and sold in the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, we reloaders, are at the mercy of these large corporations. It was different when Alliant was an employee owned and operated company. My friend from back east told me he called Alliant Thursday and asked about 2400(He loads for the Winchester 401 SLR I sold him amongst other oddballs). the rep told him all their powders will supposedly start to show up on the market soon. I think they are kinda counting on Russia and Ukraine burying the hatchet. I sent a pound of 2400 back east so he can keep shooting the load that works. We'll see how Alliant's prediction works out
I was at a small gun show this weekend and a guy had all the 2400 you would ever want in the BIG jugs. I didn't look at price as I thought everything was high but when I saw the 2400 I thought of this thread. As an example, TG which I use a lot of, was $45 a lb.
That sounds like a high price for Titegroup.
