2400 Available Anywhere?

I was just going to post this. There is a blurb in this month's American Rifleman

Yeah, the article was brief, but there was a link to the Interview with the NRA and Vista's president.

Blah, blah, blah, don't worry, good company, blah, blah, no lost jobs, still make in America, blah, blah, we are looking out for Americans.....blah.

The Alliant Powder division was part of the deal, as we know.

So what happened next?

Alliant (AKA as Vista, AKA Czeck) discontinued production of Bullseye, Unique, etc. No big deal for me since I've only been using it for 60 years....(sarcasm).

Also, I was in Walmart the other day to buy some milk (cheapest in town) and I walked past the ammo counter. Federal 22 RF price went up by $6 a brick. Now 9 cents a round.

I'm not happy. (and I'm not another dwarf either)

You are lucky that your Walmart has ammo. Ours has no rimfire or centerfire handgun or rifle ammo for sale at all. That glass cases are open and empty. Only some shotgun ammo out and have a feeling that will go away soon.

 Those powders are about "as American as apple pie" (And I say this as a Canadian.) That's just... wrong :(

I still have some of each, as well as a few bottles of 231 but I do relatively little shooting these days so I'm probably much less affected than most of you. Yuk.

I was thinking 2400 and Ramshot Enforcer were close and they are. 2400 is #57 from the fastest and Enforcer is 58. Seems like you can’t get much closer. I don’t use 2400 but have used Enforcer for a while and really like it. I use it in moderate loads in 357 and would in 44 mag but don’t shoot any 44 mags anymore. I’m loading for my lever gun and have used it as an alternative to H110 which I use in hot 357’s.

I feel Enforcer is a little more versatile than H110 in that it’s good in more moderate magnum loads where I always felt H110 was better in full house loads.

Edit: Enforcer I feel ignites easier than H110 and have used it with moderate magnums using standard pistol primers with no issues.
As far as abaility I’ve had no issues finding it locally and if you need to order Hodgdons and most suppliers like Midway sell it on line.

My friend from back east told me he called Alliant Thursday and asked about 2400(He loads for the Winchester 401 SLR I sold him amongst other oddballs). the rep told him all their powders will supposedly start to show up on the market soon. I think they are kinda counting on Russia and Ukraine burying the hatchet. I sent a pound of 2400 back east so he can keep shooting the load that works. We'll see how Alliant's prediction works out

IDK, when 9mm factory ammo was scarce and pricey, the manufactures put out a lot of information to calm the natives. This sounds a lot like that. They wouldn't dare tell a customer that their canister powders aren't going to be produced and sold in the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, we reloaders, are at the mercy of these large corporations. It was different when Alliant was an employee owned and operated company.

I was at a small gun show this weekend and a guy had all the 2400 you would ever want in the BIG jugs. I didn't look at price as I thought everything was high but when I saw the 2400 I thought of this thread. As an example, TG which I use a lot of, was $45 a lb.

That sounds like a high price for Titegroup.

That is what I thought and why I didn't buy any plus I really don't need any right now. Always looking for that deal!

Lowest primers were $80 and on up. No Federals, some Remingtons, CCI and Winchesters.
