Birth Year Guns

Don't have a birth year gun yet. The top of the list would be a 5 inch 1959 Model 27. Would need it in shooter grade so it could be had at a price I'd be willing to pay and I could enjoy plenty of guilt-free range time with it.

Anyone on here have one?

I'm seriously considering getting a snubby born in the same year as me ('68) but am wondering if it's "worth it".

I guess I think it would be neat to have a piece of history for personal and sentimental reasons.

Personally I always thought about a birth year handgun being a 1911 or a Colt Single Action Army.

For that reason I got birth year S&W or Ruger revolvers for my children.

I had a birthyear S&W. But that really didn't mean anything to me and since I got bored with it, I sold it.

I picked up a birth year combat masterpiece by chance. It is beat to **** but I don't care. There is a model 29 owned by someone on this forum that was shipped on my actual birthday. I cannot afford to spend what that is worth. The combat masterpiece is a better fit for me.

I'm not super concerned with condition as I want to "Pinto" it anyway.
When is your birthday? How did you find out actual ship date? That's crazy stuff!!

No S&Ws yet, but I bought an old Ruger standard off of gunbroker and it turned out to be one ('54) Shown with my '53 k 22 combat masterpiece

I guess I kinda "need" a 29-2 6.5" from 1971 since that's both my birth year and the year "Dirty Harry" came out.
*checks bank account, cash stash, outstanding bills, taxes and work calendar…

Same for me. And even same birth year. A 29 would be awesome. I'd also really like a 19 or 15. I bought a LNIB 15-2 that letters to my brother's birth year. He doesn't care.

Not a Smith, but yes.

I purchased my Browning A5 Sweet 16 (the old Belgian one, not the new incarnation) in 2016 as my "3rd 50th birthday to myself. " I turned 50 that year. I did not know nearly as much then as I do now about A5 serial numbers and date codes, I bought it because it was a good deal and I always wanted one. Anyhow, in doing a little research and subsequently getting an education in such things, it turns out it is a 1966 gun! I wish I could say I knew that when I bought it, but it was just a happy coincidence.

I lucked into my birth year gun. Picked up a gold plated model 67 on the cheap that looked like junk from a LGS. Removed the gold and cleaned it up and it looks new now. Found out it was my birth year. I then proceeded to purchase my birth day gun which had been on my wish list for other reasons, 1006. Not a lot of folks can buy their "birthday" gun. And it so happened to be my favorite cartridge.
