My New .22LR is a N Frame

Why a Python will "NEVER" be as kool as a Smith and Wesson!!!

No recessed chambers?

The .455 did not have recessed chambers either, nor did the 44 Special, so all those gorgeous early N frames lacked recessed chambers.. so NO the poor little .22 didn't get them either??

The only sad part for a real triple lock, LOL.. I always chuckle when 44 Special/.455 owners list their guns as being "pinned and recessed", pinned but NOT recessed??

"Shaken, NOT stirred!"

Why a Python is always going to leave you feeling a little "short"??

That gun is very interesting and looks really fun to shoot!

I would take some pretty close up and detailed pictures of your firing pin just in case it breaks down the road.

I love out of the ordinary stuff and that gun certainly pushes my buttons.:D

I’m sure my gunsmith would really appreciate that. He loves/hates when I stroll through the door. Last I paid him a visit he was tasked with repairing a half missing rebound lever for a Colt Camp Perry. I gave him half the broken parts and a schematic and told him to call me when it was done.

It shoots quite well, but man those pre war sights are tough and my eyes are still pretty good at 35. I think if it put it on a rest and used quality ammo it would print very well.

I've seen a few large frame top breaks converted to .22, and of course there are the Cogswell & Harrison WW2 Victories converted to .22 after WW2. I've never seen an N frame conversion. I like it!
There was supposedly exactly ONE Registered Magnum produced on special order in .22LR. It's never turned up.

Yes I’ve heard the myth. I do have an in the white RM barrel, maybe we can make #2. I would need some donations consisting of parts and gunsmithing …

You do know why recessed .22 revolver chambers are a good idea, don't you?

I get what you are saying. That being said, these cylinders have a gap between the rear face and the recoil shield. How could a conversion of such a cylinder accommodate recessed chambers?

True- It COULD have been done, but would be pretty goofy looking!

Thanks for the logical response! The light bulb did go on eventually...

Registered Magnum Trivia

The .22 long rifle Registered Magnum came up in another thread.

Shipped November 21, 1936 to the American Potash & Chemical Corp., Trona, California. Cost was $150.00. It was a matched set with registration number 1590, serial 49710 in .357 Magnum. Cost $60.00.

$150.00 was a substantial amount of Depression era cash...

That looks so much like one I had that had been converted to 38 Special the same way, sleeved chambers and barrel. Quality work without need-ing to refinish the gun.

Wow that’s cool! Imagine the .455, .38 spl, and .22 all lined up, what a display that would be!

I want one, don't imagine they grow on trees. OP-mind telling us where/how you found it? Great gun.

I found it on the internet through my constant perusal of the typical sites. It ended without a bid so I worked out a deal with the seller. I have 0 idea how to value it but I feel comfortable with where we ended up.

Also forgot to post this picture of the back strap with the previous owners information engraved into the back strap
