Just picked this up today. I have a number of Smiths, but didn't have a model 14. This one came with the original grips, but they have a couple of little chips at the base and these presentation grips look a lot nicer.

Any guesses as to the type of wood in these grips? They have black washers

Very nice 14-1!
I recently purchased a 14-2 made in 1967. 6” Bbl. Mine is incredibly accurate, but will spend most of its life in the safe. I think you will be very pleased with your acquisition.
I also bought a model 10–7 with a 3” Bbl. Over 50 years of collecting, and I realized I had never owned a S&W model 10 or M&P. This is probably the most significant revolver ever made so I thought it appropriate I should have one. I wasn’t disappointed.

I had a number of Smith and Wesson before I bought a model 10. I now have a 10-5 and a 10-8 that is a 4 inch nickel heavy barrel. There's something really cool about it.

Great looking 14 was it refinished or mint?

My service revolver a 14 from 1966 is well worn with a lot of honest wear on it. Thank you for sharing.

That is a very nice looking 14-1. You will enjoy shooting that one! The Model 14-1 is a bit scarce as they were only made or about 2 years. The SCSW 5th Edition states the 14-1 is worth a premium of 25% to 50%. The gun that got me started on the S&W collecting binge was a 14-1 Single Action. Definitely one of my favorites.

Can't go go wrong with a Model 14! Bought mine while on a getaway weekend. (2014) It is a -3 though. Paid $410 for it. They are so darn accurate! Bob Sorry, can't find pics

Nice! Did it ship with Diamond Targets? Mine had Diamond Magna grips from the factory.
