Just curious if anyone here who partcipated in the spare magazine thread has rethought it after LA riots.

And again, exactly NOBODY is saying these actions aren't crimes. Nobody is saying these actions should be ignored, forgiven, pardoned after the fact or treated in any other way than with the full force of the law - including the people who are "arguing" here. Some news sources keep pointing up these things and insinuating that this is the the only type of behavior that matters and is occuring, everywhere, all the time, or that somehow ALL of the protestors are guilty by association.

When presented with this dogma, I believe I will politely decline...
And some news sources believe it all milk and cookies. FACT. That’s just LIES 101

More accurately, Mr.Seefried was a rioter, and was convicted in Federal Court.

The picture of Kevin Seefried, 53, carrying a Confederate flag over his shoulder as he made his way through the Capitol is one of the most indelible images from that day, when hordes of rioting Donald Trump supporters overwhelmed police and swarmed the building.

Seefried and his son, Hunter Seefried, 24, were among the first to breach the building at around 2:13 p.m., entering through a broken window smashed by other rioters.

“Seefried was the first rioter to encounter USCP Officer Eugene Goodman in a doorway near the base of the Senate East Grand Staircase,” the government said in its sentencing memo.

“At that point, Seefried, who was still holding his Confederate Battle flag, was at the front of the mob, and for a time, appeared to Officer Goodman to be the only rioter in the area,” the memo also said. “When Officer Goodman commanded Seefried to leave, Seefried jabbed the base of the flagpole at him. Officer Goodman recalled that Seefried was very angry and made statements such as ‘I’m not leaving,’ ‘Where are the members at?’ and “Where are they counting the votes at?’ Seefried also told Officer Goodman, ‘You can shoot me man, but we’re coming in.'” https://lawandcrime.com/u-s-capitol...de-u-s-capitol-on-jan-6-gets-years-in-prison/

Tell your friend to join the forum and maybe get bronze status with a little coin. Then HE can ask all he wants.
Obviously not who you’re commenting to… It’s hard to see any value in financially contributing to a forum that regularly promotes a certain brand of politics and religion while censoring and deleting comments that disagree with that narrative. I’ve had a few instances already and wouldn’t lose sleep if my IP were banned from an echo chamber, it doesn’t need to be an echo chamber.

Shouldn’t these “rioters” be called “insurrectionists”?

UNFORTUNATELY bad guys go into nice places too!
There are no shady parts of town now a days. Every neighborhood is capable of being terrorized. Time of day doesn’t matter either. It doesn’t matter if you are driving a rent-a-wreck or a Bentley. It doesn’t matter if you leave your house or stay home. Crime is rampant everywhere.

If you're referring to this Forum, you are very wrong. Check the rules on posting carefully - the mods enforce them even-handedly. I've had a fair number of infractions and even some 'jail time;' I come back here because there ARE rules, and contribute for the same reason.

I'd never want this Forum to degenerate into the vitupertive, fact-free pits that are too common online.

Been here since Jan 2011, by the way, and will leave when I die or the owners kick me out (it's their Forum after all).

Crime will always exist everywhere. Too much for popo to catch up.

OTOH, If rioters leave the comfort of blue cities and move out into the suburbs and further they will meet very stiff pushback.

I’m not sure what to consider them, they shouldn’t be following Trump like he’s a king or escalating protests/baiting protesters to become anything but peaceful. There are enough videos out there at this point to have many examples of unprovoked escalation. The hypocrisy of “arresting protesters with masks” while wearing a mask isn’t excusable either. There are bad actors on all sides but there are an alarming amount in power right now without proper checks and balances.

I feel bad for all of those in uniform being pushed against their neighbors and communities right now. A uniform or position in office shouldn’t put anyone above the law the rest of us are held to.

Just as protesters are exercising their 1st to peacefully protest I’m exercising mine to think/speak critically of those in positions of power and the oligarch puppeteers.
Oh boy !!!!!!

According to most things I've studied, violent crime has been decreasing in the US, and globally, since the 1990s. According to the work of Daniel Pink, then only type of crime that bucked this trend is the rate of women killing men! Despite the actual lowering of risk, there seems to be an increase in fear of crime.

As an example of this, a lot of people talk about how scary New York is. But I'm fact, it's among the safest cities in the nation.

Daniel Pink's work is where I get this. I recognize there was a spike in the early days of covid, that has since receded.

I believe it's fear itself that we have to fear.

I’m capable of being very wrong and wouldn’t mind in this instance. I was just looking for a place to talk about j-frames, hobby gunsmithing, and maybe see if anyone is ahead of me with paper jacketed bullets (finished Paul M.’s book recently).

I’ve not been here very long but am not on any more general forums like Reddit, or whatever the go-tos are.

I’ve attempted to review the rules and think I’m playing by them much better at this point. Buzz words and purposely aiming to gatekeep by members is a pretty toxic way to contribute. I take the bait too quickly at times but I’m no fan of assuming we are all the same or a stereotype.

So much of this thread is derailed at this point but somewhat understandably with the original prompt baking in that we will all view these protests the same.

I’ve sold dozens of items here, met many people in person and I’m a bot?:ROFLMAO:

Found the ignore feature for the first time on the updated forum. (y)
You and people who act like you ignoring me would be a plus for me as well if this is how you contribute.

I’ll say this about bad actors in uniform. I don’t love cops. Lots (definitely not all) are arrogant and think they are somehow better than the rest of us. Many are hypocrites. I know lots of them personally. But if someone is throwing bricks or chunks of concrete at them or somehow threatening their safety and they respond with force. Well in the words of Chris Rock “ I understand”.
