Model 29-3

These were made from 1983 to 1991. Didn't sell too well. S&W was late to the game as far as silhouette shooters were concerned.
They all had 10 5/8" barrels. That adjustable front sight could also be ordered on other Model 29's. I've handled a couple of 29's with 6"
barrels that had them, but that's been several years back.

The one I have left the factory in March of 1989. If you do a search, on this site, there are instructions on how to adjust that front sight.

Congratulations on an interesting find! Your 29-3 "Silhouette" appears to be in VG condition, and the s/n dates its manufacture to 1985. It would have been shipped with Goncalo Alves target stocks. I've never handled one or seen one in person, but they're pretty cool. It's probably an excellent shooter...enjoy!

As Housepuss stated, the Silhouette units were produced from 1983 until 1991. According to the Standard Catalog, AEH would indicate 1985 production.

As noted, the Pachmayr stocks are an aftermarket addition.

I do have the original target grips

Keep in mind that the rear sight is unique as well. It has an extra tall blade with a deep notch. Along with the undercut Patridge front sight it makes for an excellent sight picture.
With the right handloads these silhouette model 29s shoot extremely well, especially at long range.
PS: a great bullet for these is a cast bullet using the RCBS 44-429-SIL mold.
