Debating a bit what to carry on a road trip through 2A-friendly states including a day at a zoo.

1) the easy choice, J-frame IWB.
2) the bigger choice, a K-frame and IWB/OWB options. Model 10 or 65, .38 +P

3) dark horse: 1911 Gov’t IWB: probably too big and heavy for a day strolling around the zoo.

Decisions, decisions.

What do you carry Every Day? It needs to be something you can shoot well that’s of a size and weight that you ACTUALLY carry it. Otherwise it’s not EDC.
Usually a J frame 442 or 36, sometimes a K frame 10 or 64 (now 65), sometimes a 1911. Rarely carry my 9mms, need better holsters.

I’ed carry the 10 ( if it’s a 2”) in the waist and the J-Frame in my pocket.

And in the back of my safe I have a Sig P210 and a Glock 34 with RDS. so what? EDC means carry every day. Dependable, small and light. Not oh, it's in the glove box.

The 36 is the range toy, the 442 is for carry. They both should have matching grips that fit , YOU. Get a 340 PD and you'll carry it even more. You can of course go even smaller. Say a Ruger LCP. Nine point something Oz. But you lose that Dependability factor.
YMMV. I like very concealed and very dependable. As a geezer surprise is my biggest advantage.

I typically carry a J frame 642 for pocket carry and a 10-7, 2” for OWB. Make sure you check the laws where you’re traveling through. Especially Indian reservations ( usually no CCW). I believe NM doesn’t allow two gun ccw.

Gee, I carry a Colt LW Commander just about every day with couple extra magazines. Wear shorts 11 months of the year with baggy tee shirt or Hawaiian shirt.

Precisely my point. It's the perfect carry gun. Now, if you just want different, I get that. I rotate carry guns myself. But to go heavier in weight? On vacation? Not capacity, but weight. That's what puzzles me.

Take more than one, IMO. ;)

Ended up taking a pair of J-frames, carried the 442 and a speedloader IWB all the way through with no problems at all in a Titus kydex holster. Revolver was fine, but I wish I’d have tried a RATH or leather IWB, the holster is meh at best after a while.
