4 INCH 500 S&W ANYBODY OWN OR EVEN LIKE THEM?

I think i would have used both and all ten shots to take the 14 ft 1200 pound grizzly that guy got in Alaska.....A new reason to carry one there for sure.RON K.

Let a friend borrow mine yesterday...he shot about 25 rounds of 1050 fps/350 grain handloads...he is a fairly new shooter and loved it...

And in a moment of craziness, I got a great deal on a Freedom Arms 83 with a 4.75" barrel in 500 Wyoming with a second cylinder in 500 JRH, which is basically 500 Special...if there can be anything "Special" about a 500 that is...

I have gone thru hundreds of Smiths in over 55 plus years. And loved them all. In Old Age just down to My Dads 686 when he passed away in 1988 i said not going to sell it. I call it the poor boys Python. And still i wanted to add another revolver to it. And looked at the 4 inch 500 Smith last week. Probably ten years ago i sold one of the yellow cased{N.I.C.} Bear jobs. why I don't know should have just let it sit in safe.Anyhow got the bug for this T-Rex blaster. I know why another gun....Well because have not made my 2020 new gun hit yet. so want all the pro's

AND YEAH i can afford to buy whatever is out there. This one just hit a hot spot.RON K.

AND hope all you Smithees have a good 2020,Been out of the loop on Smiths with folding Glocks Ruger 57's and M-4's and stuff. Too many guns and never enough time.
Mine gets to my ffl Tuesday, already bought ammo, 325,400,500 and 700 grain , I wanna see what all the fuss is about!! LMFAO

Nope, I like the snub over a 4" .500...

Lol is that for real dude? I havent even been to the range with her yet but so far the worst firearm I own for pain whilst shooting is by far my m and p 340 jframe with 158 grain 357 magnum rounds. I got used to it buy most people shoot one round ,say wtf an hand it back to me.

With those 500’s is there such a thing as a fun thumper load ?
Maybe 400 grains at 800 FPS ?
I bought mine for the BOOM and the recoil. I like recoil. Factory full power 350grn rounds is what I plink with. I love it. If I didn’t I would sell the gun before trying to shoot it with whimpy rounds

I shot a friend's new S&W 500 revolver in 2016 at an outdoor range. The range had shade over the firing line and I am pretty tall (6'5") and when I shot the revolver the first time the front sight stuck in the wood above me. So that's it, one shot. The recoil was fairly stout but manageable. His revolver had a 6" barrel and the ammunition was 500 grain factory. It's a heavy gun but with that much power heavy is good.

So far nothings been as bad as this m and p 340 with 158 grain 357 loaded
I also believe recoil sensitivity has nothing to do with size or gender, ive seen women shoot rounds that big dudes can't handle pain wise, I think recoil tolerance is just pain tolerance, I like to say im a member of the wrist breaker club but the reality is it won't break your wrist lol it just hurts and some folks can't take pain. If you've done labor your whole life it may have something to do with always getting hurt and just getting used to pain. Like no recoil is as bad as hitting your thumb with a full swing with a hammer for instance. An office worker from NYC could be able to bench press 400 pounds and weigh 250 but never did anything that hurt him like that.

My friend took his S&W 500 to the range for the first time and went through 20 rounds of 330gr. He was pretty cocky about it so he bought some 500gr and some 700gr grizzly loads for his next trip. He said the 500gr was tolerable...and then he shot the 700. He's still getting treatment for the tendon that he damaged in his thumb.
He's retired Army and owns well over 150 firearms. He's selling the revolver. 😆
