Are you a "gun slut"?

Bianchi's Law modified.

Glock 19 or a Glock 26 on my hip or in my right pocket. Unless circumstances Beyond My Control dictator otherwise

S&W 6946 for IWB or OWB carry, S&W 640-1 for even more discrete IWB or pocket carry.

As noted many times on this Forum, I carry a S&W M649 daily except when I head to certain places which I consider to be higher targets of opportunity for Tangos and other perps, at which point I switch to a Walther CCP 9mm for the extra firepower and because I can tote a loaded magazine, too. Does that make me a "gun slut"? I hope so............ :ROFLMAO:

I shoot both revolvers and pistols and every couple of months or so I'll rotate whatever handgun I have out for "just in case" and to take along when traveling for something else in my safe; and usually I'll also go from revolver to pistol or vice versus.
But when I do this I'll go to the range and run about a 100 rounds through whatever I've swapped to to refamiliarize myself with it.

54 years ago I bought a Colt D/S. Two years later I find myself in the police academy with the issued model 10. A lot of the training was aimed at reloading under stressful conditions. Partial reloads as well. Understanding this I gave my father the Colt and bought a S&W J frame as BUG and off duty. Never looked back.

I believe that there's a vast difference in carry guns and range toys. Just like there's a vast difference in working drug infested inner city streets with regular exchanges of gunfire between rival gangs and being a part time auxiliary officer in East Cowpoop, New Hampshire.

The stress induced it pistol competition with timers and paper targets is one thing.

The stress induced in working rotating hours, politicians who don't care and a chief who's a ticket punching whiteshirt flying a desk ever upward from job to job with only loyalty to his advancement. So you're faced with not only the danger of ghetto police work but the knowledge that it's only you and your partner. Headquarters and city hall are playing woke politics and don't have your back.

Now put all that into a target that's shooting at you. This is the stuff that the guy on the street lives with. This is the garbage floating around 24/7. This in a nutshell is why sticking with one gun, one holster was invented. I'm one of those who adopted that thought process.

You want to rotate guns, holsters and ammunition every day? Cool. Not me.

While I have plenty to choose from and over the years my EDC has changed, I normally carry the same firearm every day in the house, running errands or working in the yard. The CSX is small enough and light enough that I can carry it IWB or OWB and hardly even know it's there. There are instances where even the CSX is a little large to deep conceal and then I might switch to a Kahr CM9/MK9 or the Kahr P380 for really discrete concealment.
Not a big fan of switching my firearms daily but that is just me and I don't really care what others want to do.

I carry quite a few different handguns and am verry familiar with them all having been shooting for 60 years. I don't carry anything I can't shoot well and in fact get rid of those I buy then am not comfortable with . Not sure if that makes me a gun slut or not.

I don't claim to be monogunmous, even as to type, but 95%+ of the time I pocket carry a 642 or a M38 when the 642 is being shot or cleaned. I also have a Shield 9 that goes along on extended road trips and the sometimes unavoidable visits to certain parts of Chicago. I also own SA revolvers, SA/DA autos, a DAO auto and a SA auto, but I no longer shoot them enough or often enough to meet my own standards, so I don't carry them for SD. Works for me, YMMV.

So; when riding with Protective Service Details transporting us from point A to point B outside the wire in Mogadishu, our PSD lead always, every trip, explained what weapons he and the driver had and where extra mags (with radios and a med kit) in bags were inside the B6 armored SUV. It goes without saying that each of us regulars learned basic Tokarev and AK operation. Glad I never needed it, although one B6 was hit by an IED in early '22; they had to find and hold cover until friendlies arrived.

Am I a gun slut? I primarily carry a 3 inch model 36.
I'm very accurate with it and do not feel I need anything more. However, at times I carry a Shield Plus, which I'm also very skilled. And I have a Shield 45 in the safe in my truck. I shoot 50 to 60 rounds from each, at least twice a month. I also shoot other guns during my range visits, but I end the day shooting my carry weapons. I shoot several thousand rounds a year from various guns. Perhaps that makes me a gun slut.
