Loni Anderson, who played a struggling radio station’s empowered receptionist on the hit TV comedy “WKRP in Cincinnati,” died Sunday, just days before her 80th birthday.

Anderson died at a Los Angeles hospital following a “prolonged” illness, said her longtime publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan.

My condolences to her family.

I loved that show. The Thanksgiving episode was a TV Classic.

"As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly".
Is WKRP In Cincinnati's Infamous Turkey Drop Based On A True Story?
The turkey drop incident really did happen, but in a different way

"...The "WKRP in Cincinnati" episode was actually written by series creator Hugh Wilson, who knew a good story when he heard one. In an interview with the Archive of American Television (via The Cincinnati Enquirer), Wilson once said, "Jerry Blum, who was the general manager of WQXI, told me that he had been fired from a Texas radio station for throwing turkeys out of a helicopter. I turned to Jerry and said, 'You just won me an Emmy.'"

May she RIP.

She was a great part of WKRP.

I always loved the episode where Hoyt Axton showed up to win her hand and she told him Johnny was her boyfriend. CLASSIC.

Can still hear Hoyt singing...

'You got the knife, I got the gun, come on boy we're going to have a little fun'

'I'm a jealous man....'

Had to go watch the clip to get the words correct.

It was a favorite show of mine growing up. The story was the inspiration was WQXI out of Atlanta, but I’m sure lots of stations claimed that back in the day.

The Turkey Drop and the episode where they attempted to get Johnny drunk on air were particularly funny. (Police fed he and Venus Fly Trap shots and timed their reflexes to show the dangers of drinking and driving. Johnny got faster…)

Loni was obviously the eye candy, but showed she was the brains of the outfit more than once.

I’m thinking she and Burt are saying hello again.

I had to look up her information. She was married four times. Bert was #3. Took her 14 years after their divorce to marry #4. Unclear what her cause of death was. Two days before her 80th birthday.

I don't think so.
RIP to both.
