Hello all, here’s the current 3rd Gens in the stable. 3913, 6906 both of which I acquired used early 2000s IIRC. And the 39-2 Connecticut State Police 75th Anniversary which was purchased new by my father in law who was a 30 year man of the department and was left to us when he passed in the 90s. I also have the presentation box for it where it usually is tucked away in. Once my SWCA membership clears, I’ll apply for a letter for this one.
Thanks for looking, Fred

Fun bit about the CT State Police 39-2… it is wearing the fully adjustable rear sight, which was only available as an accessory from S&W and not shipped as original on any pistols — or so I thought!

A quick internet search shows that every example I see of this cool two-tone commemorative pistol show it wearing the fully adjustable accessory rear sight.

Unless I am mistaken, it was simply not possible to order a 39-2 with that sight already installed, it was not a factory option, only an accessory after the fact.

That’s an interesting nugget of S&W history right there!

You are correct on the CSP as they all came with adjustable rear sights. I don't know if the adjustable rear sight was an option for other
39-2's but I have never seen one from the factory with them on.A562115.jpg

You have some interesting pistols - I had never seen anything except 4006 (presumed early CHP pistols) with match marked slide, frame, & barrel in the Axxxx or Bxxxx prefixes. Any more info?

I've actually trimmed down the number of 3rd Gens I currently own from years past. I'm down to a 4506-1, a 4046TSW, a CS45 and CS45D (both in my daily carry rotation), and my original 4506 with a 4516 top end (essentially making it a 4596).

But as the man once said, "I'm always looking..." ;)

Those are most likely CA Prison or Parole Board guns. I had a 3913 with an A number and the 6906 guns were reported to have B numbers.

Supposedly all CA state agencies were required to buy guns tested and approved by CHP.

Yes and the 4013TSW Sxxx but here I was commenting on OP's photos of A1244 and B0266 that do not appear to be 4006 from early CHP procurement unless maybe they were eval units. Based on text, they may be a 3913 and a 6906????
