SHOCKWAVE SHOTGUNs

The answer to better shootability is the Demonstrated Concepts Recoil Strap and using a cheek weld. He has many YouTube videos on how to use the system. I'm about 90% as effective with the strap and a proper cheek weld as I am with a stocked shotgun.

I don't know that I have a tremendous amount to add to the conversation. I had a Remington for a minute. No love for the pistol grips of any style. I've a strong preference for three points of contact for anything that ain't mighty handy with a single hand. Mine had a brace on it, the specifics I've long since forgotten. I thought it would be an easy way to somewhat replicate the 14" bbl. 870s they issue at my work place, but 'lo and behold, it was an entirely different critter. It kicked like a mule, and didn't impress me with benefits over my full length 870.

With the alleged departure of the NFA tax in January, I can't help but to wonder how much braces, "firearms" etc. will be affected? If you can just have a flat out SBS minus the $200 tax...that makes a lot of sense.

I have two.
A Remington 870 with birds head grip that was cut and sanded down out of the original wood stock. Bought it at a gun show a hundred years ago lol. Because of the wood stock I keep it in my home office next to my library and it has a side saddle for extra rounds. Keep Winchester defender rounds in it. Slug with double 00 behind it in the same shell.
I recently purchased the Shockwave 590 that stays hidden under the back seat loaded with the same rounds and in a scabbard with MOLLES and extra boxes of shells. Since I travel so much within the state I wanted something with a little more should I ever end up on the side of one of those dark lonely roads at night. I keep it loaded with the same Winchester Defender rounds.

You don't see many of these: Here is my Russain Saiga 12-C Folder - can be fired folded or unfolded, with 8 round mags - or 12 rnd Drum.
NEW inexpensive AK - 12 ga. clones - will all accept folding accessory stocks. The Turkish Clones are really nicest, & under $400.
SAD - they don't import ANY Russian military firearms anymore. Mosburgs seemed overpriced to me - having Aluminum Receivers. I'm glad to have semi-auto + box mags + other features - etc etc.
I even sold my 870 to buy my Saiga - GOOD UPGRADE IMO.

Why did I get a Tac 14. Guess because it was quasi legal SBS. Added a sling attachment at the rear of the action. Almost always brought blood with factory shells. Fun with my SASS loads or 26 Gram AA Reduced recoil loads. Actually I may just SBS it and call it good!

Rhett Neumayer of Demonstrated Concepts pioneered the use of the Shockwave. This little video shows a person that had never used one before firing it after 5 minutes of training from Rhett. He has many other worthwhile videos on his youtube channel. DVC

Had one for about a month and sold it. Never shot it. Problem was it couldn't sit on floor. Had to lay on floor and didn't like that. It kept sliding no matter how i set it. Have hardwood floors no carpet.

Hardwood here too. Buy a cheap mouse pad and you can lean them anywhere.

I've had mine for 2-3 years. Lengthened the forcing cone, ported it, put a rubber strap on grip, and a strap. Shoot regular 2 3/4" and mini shells. Here you can't have a loaded shotgun in the truck, but are allowed to load a Shockwave. It spends a lot of time in the truck and by the bed. It is a joy to shoot. To each his own, and it works well for me with lots of rounds through it.
I find it interesting that folks without much time with, are so opinionated, but ain't that the way sometimes.IMG_6123.jpegIMG_6122.jpeg

Not allowed in NY anymore. I had to dispose of it. My regular FFL told me he had 1/2 dozen that guys had turned in.

I wasn't to fond of it anyway. With "3 Buck it was pretty brutal. Not as astounding with smaller shells. Quite manageable with the 1 1/2 inch mini-shells. I never would have bought any 1 1/2 shells if it had not been for that platform.
Are you saying guys gave up their shockwaves without compensation? Or did FFL buy them?…… when NY passed that I asked an Erie Co Sheriff deputy at a gun show what people were supposed to do. His response was great. He said, turn it in to any police dept, sell it out of state , or keep your mouth shut and keep your gun.

Mossy 590S, shoots any 12 ga ammo, shorty federal shells hit plenty hard and have almost no recoil, put a wrist strap on it and a green laser low profile rail mounted, no problem for control, laser makes hits 20 meters with no problems, super compact and maneuverable , what else can you ask or need, this ones a keeper.

Many, maybe most posts on Internet forums are opinions, some worthless, some erroneous, some with factual basis.

A shooter who has ample experience shooting 12 ga. slugs or buckshot using a shotgun with a full conventional buttstock knows the gun, even with significant recoil, can be mastered and used accurately to the maximum effective range of the gun and loads.

With no buttststock and only a small pistol grip, using the gun and loads effectively is indeed far more difficult and the effective range is shortened significantly. One only need look at (not shoot) such a contraption to figure this out. No opinions necessary.

Shoot what you like; others will do the same. Looks sell these guns more than any alleged practical value. There's little point in criticizing those who inject a bit of good sense in their comments, but certainly, everyone should enjoy their guns, whatever they may be.

Just a public service announcement.

Avoid the flange type front grips or hooks. While they seem like a good idea, with hot loads theyll brutalize your support hand.

A friend of mine has an AOW shorty shotgun here in CA with a flange grip. By habit, I stuck my thumb forward when pumping and firing it- one shot turned the front half of my thumb nail instantly black.

On my ksg shotgun, I found the rail hooks unpleasant, it transfers the full recoil into the web of your hand. The magpul afg2 was much more pleasant and lives on there now. The shorter stop lets your hand slide over it a little instead of doing a hard stop.

That's what I intend to do with my Shockwave after the first of the year when the supposed $200 tax is to end. Also will be watching closely to see what happens with the NFA SBS/SBR registration as the lawsuits work their way through the courts.
Same here. Mine is the 590S model and I keep it loaded with #4 Buckshot...

Jimmy, FWIW, I have a semiauto Remington V3-TAC 13 and I like it. Bought it NIB a few months after they came out, for $600. It replaced my short barrel pump shotgun because tendonitis on my elbow made it difficult to operate the slide efficiently.

I don't aim it; I point it...with good results.

If you like Mossbergs, they just came out with a similar "firearm."

The FFL paid owners for the guns. He had so many he didn't want to buy mine.

I did something else with mine.
