I'm sure there are still fans of slip joint knives out there….I have quite a few. One of my favorites, Boys Knife, 3" closed 1095 carbon steel, steel bolsters and liners, ebony covers. Made by Great Eastern Cutley in Titusville, PA.

I'm a long time slipjoint fan be it Buck 300 and 700 series, GEC, Queen Cutlery, S&M, etc. Never been a big Case fan though I do have a few. Favorite patterns are stockman and sodbuster.

I am a big fan of slipjoints. I think my love affair began with this Aitor, about 40 years ago (it was, by then, the official pocket knife of the Spanish Army)

This Boker is an all-time favourite

And I currently favour this Astra "Harpy" (although shown here with an Astra .22 l.r. revolver, both companies are not related, and they only share their names)

My pop carried a Barlow knife in his pocket. I never seen him without it. I can remember him leaning on our picnic table cutting apples from our tree. He passed away when I was about 20 and while he lay at rest in the funeral home I slipped his Barlow into his pocket. I loved that man!

I have many pocket kniives. The one I have carried all over the world is a Buck 501. I have two and as you can see one has had the most use.

The run of #14s from 2018 was, IMHO, some of GECs best work. I might own a few of them.

I carry a GEC every day. Also have some nice Queens and S&Ms. Really hate that GECs are the "Thing" now and almost unattainable except at inflated prices on the secondary market. I remember when they'd be available for weeks or months at dealers to be purchased at your leisure, I should have bought way more that I did. I used to give them away as wedding gifts, the newlyweds get Case knives now due to availability.

I prefer the 14 to the 15. I kept a few of my basic favorites after owning way to many GEC's. I have one guy from Australia that keeps bugging me to sell him my 15 clip in cocobolo.

Yeah I was buying them for $50 to $60 in most cases. The SFO's ruined the market for average users. Now dealers have learned their lesson and charging scalpers prices just like the flippers.

Have a number of Great Eastern Knives.
As our manufacturing capabilities disappear in the sunset they are a reminder of our previous prowess and greatness.
Don't seem to have another GEC slip joint on this iPad, so here's a Queen and an Omega.
Omega was made by NM Knife Whiz Hank Kubaiko. This may be Hank's first folder.
He was primarily a Fixed Blade maker.

RR brand with fun engravings on the blades like "Strike it rich" or "Pan for gold". I had the dcales replaced with mammoth ivory and scrimshawed.

This is a variety of a Buck knife I found in a now defunct gun shop in Brookville, PA. I haven't seen another one since I bought this one some 30 years ago.

While the 15 is certainly a handy size, I also prefer the 14; in fact, it is my favorite. I have several with spear-point blades from 2016 as well.



I stopped buying GECs when they were discovered by the internet knife community at-large, and the "drops" became free-for-all buying frenzies. I have neither the time nor the energy to play that game.

I EDC a fixed blade and a folder with my 986. Half the time a slip joint: Buck, Schatt and Morgan, GEC, Laguiole, or just a SAK. They have accumulated over time

I have a bunch, most often carried (in my pocket today) is this Case 6347 from the early 70s.
