Bought my first brand new vehicle. Kinda.

IMG_0374.webpIt's a 24 Mahindra Roxor. Built very similar to a Willys but updated with a 4cylinder diesel and 5 speed. It's classed as a side by side but here in Oklahoma it's easily registered and tagged. Heat/AC. 4x4. Had 7 miles on it when I got it. A bit pricey but half the price of a new jeep wrangler. It's been my daily driver for around a month now. Everything I need and nothing I don't. Just thought I'd share.

I didn't know they could sell those in the US. Is it regarded as a side by side in all 50 states? Does it need to be smogged? Indian vehicles in the recent past were way behind US emissions requirements.
 
No def. Has egr but easily deleted if one wanted to go that route. And yea classed as side by side off road only. I got the model with the cab. It comes with heat/ac. Windshield and wipers. Had to have turn signals installed and the tag office issued a title for it and it's tagged. Not sure about other states. Easy to get done in Oklahoma.

Yeah, I suspect the "Not as United as you might think States of America" factor would rear its ugly head if i tried to register one where I live in NV. We have an annual smog check in our county, and I'm not convinced a Mahindra would pass.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...No emissions here in Florida where I am, but their vehicle database rivals INTERPOL. The DMV will visually inspect the vehicle, mileage, etc.

I remember reading recently that someone bought a high end classic Corvette and when they went to tag it in Florida, their system caught it as a cloned title from a vehicle in Texas that had sold years prior.
 
I looked at those Roxors when a local dealer brought a few in. I liked them because they reminded me of an old 1947 Willys jeep I had years ago. For us, this older 4X4 Kawasaki Mule 4010 with its handy dump bed works very well around the ranch. You can buy a new one for about $12K.

NV is much the same, probably because our high car registration fees form so much of the state's income. Our registration fees are based on the depreciated value of the vehicle as assessed by the state. When I brought a 3-year old Jaguar XKR over from CA, the inspector's eyes did the dollar sign thing from the cartoons. Registration was $1100 that year.
 
I didn't think those were street legal. A friend has one of the first ones that came to Louisiana because he has plenty of space to ride it around off road and to the duck ponds. TO take it on the road to get to the ponds however he had to put one of those orange triangles that the farm tractors use. The vehicle came from the factory with a "Don't do stupid stuff with this vehicle" plate on the dash board .

Manhindra had a big suit with Jeep over them calling it a Jeep which is why it is called a Roxor.

About 4-5 years ago I kicked tires on some new Rubicons. I've owned 4 Wranglers in my day, so I love them.

As most folks know, Rubicons have everything AND the kitchen sink too. I saw stickers up to & over $100K. :eek: :eek:

They must be selling them to someone as Jeep keeps making them............
 
I was in Italy last month and I saw a couple of those. Also the mini trucks were everywhere. Even saw a few three wheeled vehicles I couldn't identify. Those 4x4 mini trucks are cool.
 
I just bought my brand new car yesterday. In my 69 years I've had 4 new cars and I one point yesterday I still had 3 of them. Now I'm just down to 2.

It's a shame that Stellantis/Fiat/Jeep made them change the front-end when they were first starting to sell these over here, because they looked even more like a classic Willys model before.

My grandson and I stopped and looked at a Bronco Raptor on a dealer lot a couple weeks ago. $108,000.

I just might look into one of these (Roxor) if they are licensable in Indiana for county roads in my area. Might be just what I need for short trips. Leave the big truck home.
 
A lot of Townships/Bourgh's in the Laurel Highlands of Pa are allowing 4-wheelers, side-by-sides and snowmobiles on local/county roads.
The State roads not so much, but the State Troopers seem to just ignore them.......... or add the red triangle and they just assume they are farm vehicles.
At one point, at the cabin we had four 4-wheelers, a RZR 800....... and a 1983 Big Red Three-wheeler Now we are down to the RZR and a 4-wheeler at the lake...... may add a golf cart!
 
Locally we have some weird laws in regard to side by sides, ATVs, UTVs. Legal on 2 lane highways including ones with a center turn lane. Not legal on any 4 lane. Golf carts are legal on local city streets and allowed to cross the main US highway at certain intersections. They are required to get a city permit. There are hundreds of all kinds on the roads here this summer.
