I just picked up this 10-5 and was wondering an approximate born on date, serial is D86935*. (Corrected in lower post)

That serial number should have a letter prefix..."D", etc.

I thought the number on the crane was the serial number but guess not, after removing the grips the number is D86935*
Under the 7332* on the crane it's stamped G10.

The numbers on the yoke (and on your gun, the frame in the yoke cut) are assembly numbers only. Your serial # only appears on the bottom of the grip portion of the frame. ("Crane"? Must be a Colt guy....)
