4th edition says 1961-62 for that S#.

Known production years and SN ranges are quoted in the SCSW. As the model 10 at that time was probably the best selling handgun in the U.S., it ‘likely’ shipped soon after being made, but short of a letter of authenticity you’ll never be sure.
Here are some nearby serial numbers:
C494246 shipped in September 1960
C527982 shipped in December 1960
That's as close as I can get.
A C4023xx shipped Sept 57, and it was a 4 screw. If that's any help.
And .38 M&P C394011 shipped in June 1957.
Neither of those were model marked, of course.
