Early Targets Stocks @ auction

Fun stocks. I followed both of those auctions and had bids in at a lower price. I hope that they went to a home with someone here on the forum.

Both were from the same high volume seller.

I guess the trick to getting top dollar is to botch the ad title and provide horrible descriptions!
No frame size mentioned in either ad...
Chechered?
Smith & Wesdon?

I was bidding on both of them but dropped out as it got too rich for my blood. One buyer got both sets.

This set was also offered by the same and seller and bought by the same buyer. These had the machined washers. I dropped the ball on these and forgot to bid.

Yes, but both of these are N frame. The presentation stocks have the early Coke bottle profile with the flared bottom. Those are nice!
Chad, the checked pair are the rare, earliest k frame targets with the third piece grip adapter.
If they had been identified correctly, I think they would have topped and surpassed 1k

s&wchad,

While I can't say with any certainty if the Early Smooth Pres. Targets are for N-Frames or not...I can assure you that the Early Targets with the Factory Adapter are most definitely for K-Frames given they were never offered for N-Frames as best that I can recall!!

As an aside...Given the rarity of the Early K-Frame Targets with the Factory Adapter...Someone got one "Heck" of a bargain on those as long as the Adapter had no problems...Warped,Cracked,Etc.!!

Thanks Mike,
I completely missed that...
I just took a Quick Look at this photo and thought they were just beat up non-relieved targets. Now I see the adapter.

I think these could possibly be the earliest k frame smooth magnas produced (because of the machined washer)
I'm unsure of the wood but a very rare set.
I did not see what the final, winning bid was??

The OP's smooth targets look somewhat like these except these have a larger relief area. Mine had chips out of the lower rear so they are with my wood expert friend in Ohio for repair.

One of my .357 Magnums was shipped from the factory with these... ...Ben
