A while back locals were writing letters to the editor whining about
the awful noises the F15s from Gowen Field were making. I wrote
a letter about a Dragnet episode. Joe Friday and his partner
(I think it was Frank at that time) were standing on a front porch
conversing with a lady. Some fighter planes flew over. The lady
said have you ever in your life heard such a racket? (I am
paraphrasing from memory). Joe Friday answered: Yes Mam...
at Pearl Harbour.
I did a little research and found that Joe Friday carried a Model 10
with 2" barrel in a brown clip-on Lewis crossdraw holster. Malloy
on Adam 12 also carried his off duty Model 36 in a Lewis clip-on
crossdraw holster.
I went searching, but never found the clip-on. But I did find
a snap-on. Both sides are shown here with my Model 10 with
the 2" barrel.
When you hear our fighter jets making that awful noise, or when
you see an old Vet limping down the street, remember It's the
price of freedom.
