Default Field holster for 6” Model 29?

I am in need of a nice leather holster for a 6” Model 29. It will be for woods carry mostly. Any suggestions?

i would check fleebay - I have a Safariland model 25 for my model 29. Works very well, keeps the gun high and tight to the body.

I always liked these for field work. Shop around for best price.

I generally like pancake style holsters for heavy handguns on my hip. However, too high riding a holster on a long barreled gun can make the draw awkward. For woods use, where concealment is not an issue, I often use holsters styled after the classic "Hunter Holster" line. Lower ride, easy draw, and the holster can be easily be "adjusted" so you can sit without driving the muzzle of your gun into dirt/mud/leaves.

I like Bianchi #111 Cyclone cross draw, high out of the way and easy draw for 6” and longer.

I'll second the Bianchi 111. Can be worn crossdraw or standard strongside carry. I'm also a fan of the classic El Paso Saddlery Tom Threepersons for field use.

My M29 six inch rides in a Bianchi 111 Cyclone...for the same reasons mentioned. As does my S&W 629 5 inch..and 686 4inch.....

The only holster I ever located for a 6 1/2” M29 is the Bianci 111.

A 6” or 6”1/2” barrel on a M29 is simply too large for a strong side holster. The 111 Bianci keeps it easily accessible and out of the way but readily available for a very quick presentation. I was able to win some local IPSC matches in the 1980’s with this set up.

The shoulder holster is not worth much with such a big gun. I don’t like them largely because of their size and the difficulty in presentation with any sort of speed.

This is a nicely made, but nothing fancy, Triple K holster. Has a thumb break hammer strap, made for a 6-1/2" N frame revolver. Also available in black, I think. The gun in the pic is a 6" M57. If you want something off your belt, the last picture is a "Tanker" made by El Paso Saddlery.

I ended up ordering a Simply Rugged 120 (Three Persons style) holster in Ox Blood with floral carving
