Good morning all , I am shopping for some new gun leather for cowboy action . I have had a few nice sets of holsters over the years but my current set up isn’t really working for me anymore
As I get older I find it harder to draw a 5 1/2” barrel from a traditional high ride, straight drop holster with any speed or comfort
I think I want to go back to a Hollywood style dropped holster with a cross draw
The Montana model from Black Hills Leather seems to be about what I’m after, a fair price if the quality is there
Does anyone have experience with the company that can comment on the quality of material and workmanship ?
Would also appreciate suggestions for other high quality makers
Thank you

Only Black Hills Leather I know is in Loredo, Texas. I have had several
of their holsters and they were all good quality. If they have something
you like, I don't think you will go wrong.
Here, on the left is a shark skin holster, and on
the right a lizard skin. Both from Black Hills.

I ordered a holster last year from him. I was sent one for a gun with a longer barrel and was so loose the retention was nonexistent. After a few weeks an several emails that were not answered. I wrote a couple negative reviews. He responded to the reviews saying satisfaction is guaranteed. He sent me another holster still for a longer barrel then I wanted and a sweat shield I didn't order and don't care for. But at least the retention was moderate. But still not what I wanted so it sits in the box with other holsters I don't use.
