Default Holsters for Sig P365

I just got a Sig P365X and am exploring holsters for it. I am currently using this Galco "Tacslide," a Kydex front/pocket backed by leather:

I've never owned a Kydex holster before as, like all of us in this subforum, I really like leather. But, I gotta say, what this holster lacks in looks it makes up for in terms of functionality, concealability, and comfort. This is a very good holster for concealed OWB with this gun. Edited on 7/18/24 to revise my opinion. While it is comfortable, I find the straight drop causes the grip to print through a T-shirt or similar when bending over.

I'm curious as to what others are using for this popular CCW pistol. I especially hope to see some nice OWB leather, but whatever you've got, pocket, IWB, leather or Kydex. (I also have a Vedders Kydex pocket holster on order, and Sticky Holster I am checking out.)

Show 'em if ya got 'em! Let us know your experience with them, good or bad.

For the past few years I've carried my P365XL in this Tucker & Byrd OWB holster, all day, every day.

It works so well and is so comfortable, I've stopped looking for anything better.

I am a big DeSantis fan. Rides just right and holds the gun nice and close.

I've been carrying mine in an Urban Carry Lockleather hybrid holster. Reasonably priced, fast delivery, comfortable and conceals well. I have two P365's, one with optics and one without and I have one of these holsters for each.

The first holster I bought from TT Gunleather was this IWB for my Sig P-365 XL. I think that stabilizer tab toward the back helps keep the gun in tight. I also like the extension in back that keeps the safety and back of the slide off your skin.

I was pleased enough with the quality to order an OWB holster and mag carrier for my CCO format 1911 (4” barrel on Officers frame):

And yes, I scraped the bottom of the holster on a concrete wall. That’s not a production defect.

I have 2 for the standard p365, both OWB. A strong side from Wright Leather Works, and a cross draw from Privateer Holsters. Both are relatively inexpensive and expertly crafted. Highly recommend.

Here's a Vedders pocket holster I have been checking out.

While not much to look at, it functions well.

One needs to specify if one has a manual safety or not, if one wants "the curve" to assist in molding to the leg for concealment, and if one wants the "tab" by the right thumb to aid in the release from the holster. (One pushes down on the tab to aid extraction.)

I mostly OWB, but occasionally pocket carry. When I do, I always carry in my right front pocket so chose the "curve." Guys that use various pockets probably don't want this option.

The screw adjusts degree of retention. I like the retention set to pretty loose for pocket carry.

I also like this holster for parking the gun at home. Keep it downstairs during the day, and bedside at night.

I’m more of an OWB guy, my recent favorite has been Upper Hand holsters out of Utah. They ride high & tight to the body, kydex. I just bought one for the P238 & P365.

I haven’t seen it added to the list yet so I will. Kramer Horsehide belt or vertical scabbard. Expensive and a wait but in my opinion totally worth it. Your kids will hand it down to their kids.

I wound up ordering a Lobo Enhanced Pancake. A lot of thought and effort has gone into the design, as Ray has written here earlier, and it has good reviews among our membership.

I looked into DeSantis but while waiting for a response as to whether their holster would work with extended mag release and extended manual safety, got a favorable response from Lobo to whom I'd asked the same question and proceeded with them. (DeSantis did respond later that yes, their holster, too, would work with those options.)

I also like Kramer, and currently have two of their vertical scabbards, one for a Colt Three Fifty-Seven and one for a Model 10 which works well for my M18 and my M65 as well. Lobo quoted me a 13-week wait, so not much less than Kramer, which was quoting 16 weeks about a year ago. (I am one of those guys who feels the wait for something of quality that I want is worth it.)

I had not noticed earleir, for some reason, madmikeb's post above suggesting Urban Carry Lockleather. Just spent some time on their site. Looks like a good option.

I corrected my opinion, above, of the concealability of the Galco Tacslide as I've noticed that it prints pretty clearly under a thin T-shirt when I bend over. I've attributed this to the lack of tilt, to the vertical drop, but, upon reflection, I think it may simply be the case that the XL or WC grip module, being longer is harder to conceal than the revolvers I have carried concealed to date.)

I appreciate everyone's suggestions and advice.

Looking at the Galco I like your analysis of the printing. It's my view that when a maker chooses carry angle, they think that where it can be carried is obvious; but my experience is that consumers aren't the same sort of savvy. That Galco can only be carried at the waist without printing over the front pockets of jeans and the like, because it was made with a zero carry angle. And carrying it over the front pockets w/b foolish as it muzzles the wearer.

I'll add that I do think the Galco Tacslide is a fine holster for the range. Very easy, smooth draw and reholster.

As many here already know, I am a dyed in the wool Kramer Horsehide Holster guy. Here's my P365 in it. I also like that the safety on the left side is shielded from accidentally swiping off by rubbing against my side as it is covered by the holster.

This holster is over 5 years old now and gets used about 2/3 of the time I carry. Once a year it gets a polish with Lincoln or Kiwi shoe polish. The rest of the time the P365 goes in my front pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis.

I am not a Kydex guy. Never cared for the stuff. Not that it won't do the job, I just do not like the feeling or idea of plastic against my body.

I've carried a Sig P365 in a Vedder AIWB Lite Tuck holster every day for over 3 years. Works perfectly for me. I also have a Hellcat with the same set up. If it works, don't mess with it.

My wife and I have used Comp-Tac hybrid leather backed iwb holsters for many years and I did not know my wife ordered there Sport-Tac hybrid for her p365xl . This model holster has a softer back half with some padding, It still has the same adjustability as there MTAC we both also use for full size m&p's . Note its cut for a dot optic too and they are tuckable .

Sport-Tac Holster

Phlster, JM Kydex and Safariland make decent holsters for the 365.

Check out "We The People" - vet owned, Made in America holsters. Mine work good (IWB and OWB) and are reasonably priced. Good adjustable retention and easy draw.

My Lobo Enhanced Pancake arrived about a month or so ago.

I ordered it with a smooth leather lining. After I declined the suede lined option, as I believe suede attracts grit, I asked what the advantage of a smooth leather lining was, and was told that it made the holster stiffer. This seemed like a good idea. In the event, the holster is indeed nice and stiff, and even with the lining the leather remains quite thin.

I also asked the purpose of the slide shield option, which I have also seen referred to as a sweat protector. I was told that it's handy for indexing the gun for reholstering and also to keep cold metal off your skin. I'd never had this on a holster before so decided to give it a try.

It's a well made, very comfortable holster. I like the slide shield, too.

I'm pleased with my choice.

If Ray sees this, maybe he'll give us some comments on the design process.

I prefer IWB over OWB - just because (for me) IWB is more easily concealed.
My favorite holster for carrying my P365 is an Alien Gear hybrid - leather inner and molded plastic outer layers, with adjustable "drop" style plastic belt loops that allow me to tuck my shirt in over the gun & holster.

I have the Mitch Rosen Express line OWB made for the P365 and am very happy with it. Also for several other Sigs I own. Prices have gone up quite a bit lately but it is a quality well made holster.
