Milt Sparks is pretty popular here, so I decided to put an order in for their OWB holster they call the PMK. In the past I avoided them because the lead times are insane. Even so, I decided they must be popular for a reason and put in for one and a belt last June (roughly). Then I completely forgot about it until I got their green light email to finish the holster. Well it came the other day and naturally like most custom holsters I had to use the bag trick for 24 hours to break it in. Yesterday after the 24 hours was up I drove to the range and the first thing that struck me was how comfortable it is driving with a heavy gun like my 686-3 snubby. Every other holster I have tried for it has had some problem or another that made them a pain to carry that beast but this design made me forget it was there...no digging into my rib cage seated, no pressing the barrel into my leg, stayed tight to my body without pressing into it, etc...

I'll admit I don't know much about holster making or leather work in general so I won't use $100 words on a dollar budget, but it is easily the most quality and comfortable holster I have ever tried with my 686. So much so that I ordered a black crocodile PMK to pair with the natural tan one I now have. Nice to have one for all occasions.

Long story significantly shortened, in my opinion it's not just hype or fancy marketing, these guys really put their heart and soul into their work. They have earned a customer for life, whether that is good or not depends on your outlook YMMV.

My EDC is a Cmdr. size 1911 in a Milt Sparks IWB. I bought it probably 20 something years ago. This holster is so comfortable that I have on two separate occasions left the house without the pistol in the holster. No kidding, I can't tell the difference :o. It's cordovan horse hide with shark trim and a matching mag pouch. Buy once, cry once!

So I heard of another holster maker that is recommended here often and his turnaround time was way less, so I ordered one. When it arrived I was impressed, it was an exact copy of the milt sparks VMII and appeared to be very well made. The first thing I noticed was the thread was about twice the thickness of the thread that Milt uses. I thought that was a good feature. However the Milt sparks thread was recessed into the leather and the other guys was not, after very few draws and reholstering the thread was worn thru and started to come undone. I have holsters from Milt that have been used for training and could not begin to count the times it was drawn and reholstered and they still are perfect.
Milt Sparks has a following not because people drank the cool-aid but because NO ONE makes a better or as good of holster as MILT SPARKS.

I'm a lefty so in the old days, I had to order custom holsters for most of my guns before some of the bigger companies started to produce holsters for left handed shooters. I ordered several from Milt Sparks over the years. Some I sold. The most used is my 1911 Summer Special model that is still in great shape after many years of use. I carried it for years, on and off duty. Their holsters are excellent quality.

Baba I am carrying the same gun. Have several holsters - DeSantis speed scabbard and Galco combat master. Thought this gun would be too heavy for EDC so wanted to try it before I ordered a more expensive holster. I think I’m at that point. While I have some Milt Sparks in this case I might lean towards a Kramer belt scabbard.

You might want to peruse the recent thread on Kramer prior to ordering just fyi.

Thanks BrBa. I saw the recent thread about Kramer delays but stick by them. In my opinion their holsters are the best out there of the makers I have or have tried. I’ve been using their holsters for over 25 years.

Milt Sparks makes great holsters. Below are a couple I have, an IWB for my Colt Combat Commander and a PMK for my 3" 625-3. Luckily for me Milt Sparks is a few minutes drive from the house.
