No Satisfaction from SEARS
Wasted over thirty minutes on phone with SEARS this MORNING. That was after about twenty minutes trying to find item on their web pages.
Have Craftsman cordless tool which uses 1 19.2 Volt DieHard battery pack. This is is a Nicad battery.
The battery charger is missing and I was TRYING to get a replacement.
Label says: <Quote> Use only with Craftsman charge no. 1425301, 315.115730.<Unquote>
These numbers were not found on web site. Called service center, they could not find these number either.
They did find an offer to sell me TWO more batteries and a charger for $85.
I said not only NO, but H**L NO!
We now have cordless Crafstman tools that are only good for paper weights and boat anchors.

There are a bunch on ebay right now. I don't like the venue, but they make finding odd stuff easy.

Sears is a joke, A rolling on ROTFLMAO joke.
This last march I attempted to order a mechanics service cart that a fellow tech had, size, deminsions, number of drawers and quality of build were very close to what my Matco dealer was offering for over 600$, But sears was selling for 350$. Figured I couldn't go wrong with this. I ordered from sears.com and waited the 30 days for it to be shipped to my local store. I received an automated message over my phone while i was on my way to the houston rodeo with my neighbors, when I got home that night I also had an E-mail stating it was ready for pickup. Next morning I took my truck up to the store to pick it up, Guess what? After an hour and a half of them going back and forth into the warehouse area looking for it a "supervisor" came back with a list of what actually came off the truck, Guess what again? There was my name and item on the list. They finally came to the conclusion that they would cancel the online order and run it through under an in store order. After waiting another 30days i called back to be told they no longer offer that service cart and would be happy to sell me a smaller and cheaper one instead. After 2 months of waiting and going through all of this, I went back to the store to get my money back. Because I had originally paid with a prepaid debit card ( the only way i make purchases over the internet) they could only refund it back to my card. after waiting several more days to get the money back, I called my Matco dealer. After telling him everything I had been through he had my new cart at the shop I was working at within two days and in the color I wanted and even let me have it at cost because I was paying it all off at delivery instead of payments. After that experience the only way to get me back into sears would involve a gun to my head

Bayfisher, I saw one of their big tool boxes with a riser about the size of my Snap On box. When I looked at the price I realized my Snap On box was actually cheaper and the quality wasn't as good as my box either! I'll be the 1st to admit I own plenty of Craftsman tools and for the most part they do quite well but Sears can be a PITA as well.

Sears really started going downhill when it became part of K-Mart.

2Loud4You: The service cart I was trying to buy is the HD service cart with 4 drawers and a 5in deep top section. My buddy has the sears model which is identical to my matco model.
I already have matco's titanium cart with two drawers and top area. Along with a matco PROFORMANCE series upper and lower chest along with craftsmans new stainless series upper and lower chest combo.
I have been in this field for 18yrs professionally, But working on cars for close to 30yrs. Like you, I have a lot of craftsman tools. I just hate the way there CS (if you can call it that) is going.

Try buying a major appliance from Sears here. You gotta pay for it in the store then pick it up the next day. The next day that you have taken off from work. AND, you have to go all the way to their warehouse near the airport. (Anything "near the airport" is a long way from wherever you are.)
Sears ain't what it used to be.

years ago. Don

There's nothing Sears sells that I need that I can't buy at the local Farm & Home store. For half the price, too!

I for one like sears. They still put out good hand tools with the best return policy I have seen. I buy mainly tools from them.

Sears used to be a pretty good store, the hand tools couldn't be beat and if they broke, no questions asked you got a new one. A brand new one. Now if you take a craftsman wrench in that broke, you're most likely going to get a refurbished one as a replacement.
Sears gave me my first revolving credit card and helped build my credit as an 18 year old nearly 30 years ago. Now they have the Discover card with 20+% interest.
IMO, they began their downhill slide long before Kmart entered the picture. More like back around the time that they shutdown their catalog sales. Sporting good department is skimpy and they no longer sell guns, ammo or anything hunting related for that matter.
15 years ago I bought a gas stove from them with the propane conversion, stove top worked fine, the oven had flames shooting out everywhere. They had neglected to properly adjust it to burn propane.
There is no longer a toy department for the kids, their clothes are overpriced. Basicaly there is nothing sears currently offers that I can't get a better deal on elsewhere and they did it to themselves. And thats too bad, they had a loyal customer in me for 15 years.

I bought a Sequoia cart a few years ago and it's done me just fine. 4 drawers, not sure how deep the top is though. I think it cost me about $250-ish back then. I've got about about $8700 in my chest, riser and side locker though. You've got a lot more years in this field than I do though, I've only got 5 in. As for Craftsman, at least the few times I've had to return a tool I didn't have any problems.

When i was a kid, my folks always traded at Montgomery Wards and only occasionally at Sears, as Wards had better items at cheaper prices. When Wrads went belly up, Searbecame the "Go to" store and they did a good job for the money for most of the time - Then KMart took over and everything went to Hell. All foreign made junk & poor customer service, but I did discover that if they had an item i liked, forget the ticket price - tell them what you will pay, and most of the time the manager agrees. That has worked for every thing from appliances to auto parts, etc., especially at their warehouse stores. Ed.
