I'm looking over a box of parts for a friend trying to figure out what exactly he has. So far all the parts are either Garand, BM59 and one lone 1903A3 bolt.

The odd part is the markings on a Garand stock or maybe a BM59 stock. Standing side by side one of my Garand stocks this one looks the same so I'm not sure if Garand or BM. The only markings on the stock is 382511

There is a paper tag in the barrel channel that has the following printing on it:

G M/50 nr.:382511 Dato 28-7/9
Skytte A or 19 rest of line is unreadable
HMAK
Kampviser H:____7___Klik
+___4___
(300) S:-______Klik

Anyone have any idea what this all means?

Thanks

Sir, that sounds Danish. Denmark got a lot of Garands from us after WWII, and they got a lot of their spare parts from Beretta and Breda in Italy. IIRC, GM/50 was the Danish nomenclature for the M1.

The last bit about "7 Klik" etc. is sight settings for battlesight zero, in this case probably 300 meters.

Many of those Danish M1s came back to the States via the CMP several years ago.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.
