It occured to me that other than the pattern on my neopreme chestwaders, I own no camo clothing besides a couple of baseball caps.
Usually I wear an old pair of olive dockers and a dark green or khaki shirt and if a jacket is needed I have a dark green waxed cotton coat. If I go deer hunting- the blaze orange kinda makes camo a bit ....let's say superfluous. Never felt handicapped by not wearing it. My kit consists of lots of waxed cotton speed bags & vests that are a nice dark brown or green but no camo. Maybe if Filson made a shelter cloth vest or jacket in camo I would take the plunge-but I really never felt the need for the stuff.

Absolutely. And I wear my ninja outfit when I go lurking around. And if moseying, my cowboy boots.

I don't own any camouflage- I'm not into trendy, fancy name-brand stuff.

Pointer brand and flannel shirts work for all occasions. :)

I used to but hunting is not what it used to be in Louisiana. The weather is never suited for deer hunting since I cannot be swatting mosquitoes while on a deer stand in 100 degree weather.

Now hunting is a rich man's sport.

Me neither. I have an LL Bean down parka with realtree camo on one side that reverses to olive, but I wear it olive side out with a blaze orange baseball cap when I'm anyplace near the woods during deer (rifle) season. I'm not a sniper, so I don't own a ghillie suit either, although those seem to be coming into favor with certain people around here. I like to scout out the deer early and hunt from a portable ground blind, carefully positioned.

I've been a bowhunter for 36 years now, so I'm pretty use to wearing it.

Yes but only because that is the color I have BDUs in. They are leftover uniforms so they were free, comfortable and I love the cargo pockets. But if I were to go buy clothing for hunting I wouldn't get camo. Too many wanna-be Rambos around I don't want to be associated with. Nothing wrong with camo when it serves a purpose, maybe with turkey hunters?

I use my old desert camoflague uniforms (DCU's) The pattern is perfect for sitting in tall grass all through archery season. I also use them during rifle season when blaze orange is required only because they are kept in a scent block bag. The orange hat and vest just stay in the bottom of the bag until rifle season opens. Have to wear them during rifle season, even if you are bow hunting.

The combination of sitting in tall grass and picking up that scent and visualy blending into the grass works for me. I've had deer come in close enough to touch and not be aware of my presence.

It's a law where I live that guys have to wear camo....hunting, to the store, to weddings, to funerals, church, etc.

It's not a law here, but I've pretty much worn camo at one time or another to activities noted above . . . well, maybe never to a funeral.

I went to a wedding where the groom wore a tux in Real-Tree camo. The bride is a pretty good bow hunter and the honeymoon was at the deer camp. They kept us up most of the night. Champagne and Cheerios is not a good breakfast. Back to the original question. I don't feel camo is really necessary although it does give you an edge when hiding from a game warden. Neutral colors seem to work just as good. Don't hunt next to a dove hunter wearing a white t-shirt. Watch and see in which direction he scares the birds and go there.

I was dove hunting near Picayune, Ms. years ago when Carlos Marcello showed up with some "friends". I didn't know who he was until after the hunt. Carlos was wearing a white suit and his friends were wearing black suits. He had a very expensive looking shotgun that I haven't seen before or since. He didn't get a lot of shots and the ones he got were too far off but he seemed to be having a good time until he got a ticket for hunting without a license. The warden took his shotgun and told him he could have it back when he paid the ticket. I don't think the warden knew who he was either. After the warden left one of his "friends" handed him another shotgun and he finished the hunt. The point I'm trying to make here is don't dove hunt wearing white.

Have to wear it turkey hunting; the same surplus BDUs I've been wearing for years work just fine for all seasons. Big enough to layer things under, and it's become nicely faded from a lot of naps in tree stands.

Stand hunt in Texas.....
You can dress like Slappy the clown, smoke a good stogie while drinkin a Rum and coke and still bag a free rangin decent East Texas deer.

I'm a minimalist. I like freedom of movement. I prefer a natural approach to camo. Dove season just started here in Texas. Here is my 2010 outfit - look out dove!

Yes. I get it at the Army/Navy store, sew elastic in the ankles (keeps the bugs out) and beat the snot out of it busting the brush.

Lots of useful pockets in the pants, cost is low and I don't worry about abusing it.

Camo clothing, face masks, even camo'd guns are in order for predator calling, especially when attempting to lure sight-hunting predators like mountain lions.
