Call me a sceptic if you wish but I suspect that the reason for this is all about camera angles and seeing Clints face in the shot.

I would suspect it is for authenticity.

I thought it was all down to how the cinema tech threaded the film for that reel.

Ol'Clint can also shoot 7 bad guys with his six shooter and put a bullet in each hombre.

I've noticed he shoots a rifle and handgun right handed, but throws left handed. I throw a baseball right handed and bat left handed. Plus, kick with my left foot. I shoot from the right side. Not uncommon. He's ambidextrous.

Clint should get the muzzle on that rifle checked. A good smith can recrown it like new.

I can do that too, I'm equally as bad with either side! That's why I quit deer hunting, I got tired of the dang things laughing at my marksmanship abilities.

A co-worker has a rather famous technique for Deer Hunting. You know he's going to shoot when you hear the knocking, as in knock knock knock knock Bang. The knocking is his barrel hitting the window ledge in the blind. To his credit, no foul shots or misses, he wait's until they get real close, according to his BIL he took one buck at 20 feet and it had it's head cocked staring the source of that funny knocking sound.

I'm wondering where all those left handed 7MM Mausers the Spanish troops used in the movie "Rough Riders" went? Again, the film flipped either in error-or for visual impact.

It's much easier do in Hollywood where he never has to shoot anything with real bullets....

I'm surprised more don't shoot rifles either handed.
What if the deer comes from your right side and you're a righty?

Seems to me I read once that he was born a lefty, but was forced to "convert" to being a righty when in grade school. It was a loooooong time ago. I saw a pic of him as about a 10 year-old, aiming a rifle lefty. In his older years I'm guessing he was basically ambidextrous. Better make that "IS."

I'm 40, and some of my left-handed classmates were still having their fingers taped together in order for them to learn how to write "correctly" in grade school in the 70's.
I am a strange sort of ambidextrous. When I was a small boy neither the teachers nor my parents could figure out which hand would be dominant, as I'd switch up all the time. I can shoot handguns with either hand, but I must use my left eye to aim. I CAN shoot rifles right-handed, but it is very awkward for me. I throw, swing a bat or club, and draw a bow like a left-hander. I write, play guitar, and kick a ball like a righty. If I write with my left hand my writing looks like a 4 year old, but if I write backwards, it's perfectly legible if you read it in a mirror.
Dropped on my head by a nurse in the hospital, I guess.....
