What is your favorite Magnum handgun and bullet?
Thought it might be interesting to know what you guys like. I would say my favorite is my M29-3 8 3/8'' bbl with 240gr Hornady HP/XTPs

I've always been a fan of my (well, technically my dad's) .44 mag 6" Colt Anaconda loaded with 300g XTP's.

Hard to beat the Hornady XTPs in the Model 29, but for practice I like the old Keith LSWC with a reasonable charge of Unique.

4 inch Model 29-2. Home-cast Lyman 429421.
I must also post the disclaimer that I have never shot that, or any other bullet, in that particular Model 29.
I must also say that isn't my favorite handgun, just my favorite Magnum.

My favorite Magnum cartridge is the .41 Magnum.
I can't narrow it down to one gun because I have a bunch of .41s and appreciate them all.
Favorite bullet is a 220 or 230 grain LSWC.

Well hell...no one has posted pics??
I have had this gun, a 29-3, over 25 years since it was new. A rough estimate is it has 50lbs or so of 700X at 7gr a throw under a truck load of 240gr cast SWC's through it. It's a little out of time now, but still shoots as good or better than it did new.

629 Classic w/ 5" barrel, using 240gn JHP's.
The full lug just seems to make the recoil a bit more manageable.

For right now it's the .357 Magnum, in a Model 28 Highway Patrolman 4 inch barrel. Load of choice; 145gr. Winchester Silvertips.
If I may; I've been hearing a lot of good things about the .41 Magnum, so thats my next purchase!

I'm just now getting to know a new Model 57 .41 Magnum so have to say that the 8 3/8-inch Model 29 with 240 grain Sierra JHC over a stiff charge of H 110 is my favorite combination.

I guess mine has to be my old Model 58 with a 210 grain JHP over a healthy dose of 2400.
I've got lot's of guns, but that combination is the one I would stake my life on.

Ruger Bisley Vaquero .357 magnum. Black Hills 125 grain JHPs. 625 ft/lbs. This old cowboy pistol is not only fun to shoot but it's very accurate even with the fixed sights. It's heavy enough to absorb recoil, the hammer spur is lowered and it has a wide trigger. The Bisley grips are well thought out.

Thanks that block of wood made 2 identical stocks, the other is on this 629-3. Same size/shape as all the rest of them.
This one really likes the Hornady 240 XTP.

for speed steel, it's the 627 Vmag cast 130 RN;
for pins 3 7/16 10mm 610 180 RFN;
for belt carry it's 3" 629 200 SWC;
for general plinking anything in 41 mag;

The question screams to be asked," what is your favorite Magnum handgun and bullet for (fill in the blank!)
Favorite for a fun day at the range load:
-Model 28, or GP-100 with 158 grain LSWCs
-Model 29-3 with 240 grain LSWCs.
-Ruger SRH with 310 grain LWNFPs at ridiculous velocities!
Serious business:
-Model 28, or GP-100 with 158 grain HNDY HP-XTPs, Federal Hydra-shoks, or Speer Gold Dots.
-Model 29-3 with 240 grain HNDY HP-XTPs, Federal Hydra-shoks, or Speer Gold Dots.
-Ruger SRH with 310 grain LWNFPs at ridiculous velocities!

Longest Coltest
My .02 cents is bet on a 45 Long Colt with a 325 grain LBT at about 1150fps. The method of delivery is a 625-6 Mountain Gun with a 4 inch tube.

Speaking of Casull, I bought the Lyman 260g TCGC mould they offered with the pistol. My load is 35g W296 and it's SMOKIN' out the end of the 7.5" barrel.

S&W 29-2, 6 1/2 inch.
255gr. Lyman 429421 (Keith) semi wadcutter.
Load to taste.
I've loaded my cast bullets with 6gr. of Unique to 22gr. of 2400.; and everything in between.
Jacketed bullets are more accurate, but there is something about casting your own bullets, loading them and shooting them, that gives me a lot of satisfaction.
They punch nice clean holes in paper...and glass...and sheet metal.
And they will not only knock down, but will also mess up a bowling pin very nicely, too.

629 8 3/8" kicking my cast 276 grain hollow point into orbit with a handful of 2400.
it has proven itself to be one of the most accurate of meals Ive fed it. it also exceeds the energy generated by any jacketed bullet ive crimped into a case. with that and total control of the cavity profile I can blend penetration with expansion rate to any ratio I feel to be overkill.

I only have one handgun that says 'Magnum" in the title, and that's a Ruger Security Six, with 6" barrel and Hogue grips. My favorite load for serious social purposes is the 125 gr Federal hollow point. My favorite for anything else is Hensley & Gibbs bullet #56GC, a 156 gr Keith type with gas check. I cast it fairly hard but not too hard. Accurate, powerful and fun to shoot.

.357 magnum with about any load from .38 special wadcutters to hot .357's. As for the platform, this week it would be my GP-100 Royal Phoenix 4", or the S&W L-Comp, or a Python, or a Blackhawk (with a 9mm cylinder too). I love the .357!

I've always most liked my M29-2 6 1/2" barrel, fed with my own 225-grain bulleted, 13.5 grains Unique cartridge. Served me well for around 30 years, with many more to come.

Probably the most used load is a 6 1/2 " 629 DX and a 210 Gold dot for whitetails.

Model 29, with a big honkin' Lyman SWC, and a big dose of 2400. But not quite as much as Elmer used. These days, I like the same bullet with a light charge of Unique, just for fun.
