Anybody Lighted their Safe?

I use the battery operated push/push lights in my safes. They are cheap, selling for less than $15 at Lowes. They stick to the safe using velcro that comes with them. I put one above the top shelf and one above the long guns. Which ever part of the safe I am looking in, I just tap the light and it comes on giving a very soft glow allowing me to see everything clearly.

The led rope sounds like a good idea. They should be small enough to attach around the door frame with no loss of storage space. I found a small flat undercounter light at Home Depot that worked fairly well in one safe but left a few dark corners. For the past few years I have kept one one of the small inexpensive led AA flashlights laying on the top shelf of each safe that lets me put the light where I want it. It's cheap and it works.

Just got a used Liberty 25. I've brought power in through the 3/8" hole in the lower back corner of the safe. I used 14/3 cord (overkill, I know) because its diameter matched the diameter of the hole in the safe. I'm going to use a Goldenrod or some similar heat source to keep the temp above dew point and avoid condensation. I'm going to get lights from LED Lighting Manufacturers - Inspired LED.
I haven't decided whether to go with their LED panels or the flexible strips but I'm leaning toward the latter. I'm going to mount them across the top and full length down the sides just inside the door frame and facing inwards. That will be 22" across the top, 34" down the hinge side (the long gun side) and 53" down the other side
I haven't found a door switch yet. Suggestions welcome.

I've been looking for something like this for almost a year - thanks for the link!

I have to do a little measuring, but after looking over their products, I think I'm going with the "ultra bright flex (cool)". I have the same idea of mounting across the top & down the sides, but with all their linking options, I'm thinking that I could also add some lighting in the back - over each shelf possibly. It will take a little planning to do it right and in my normal OCD fashion :D

When I get it installed, I'll post some pics. Right now I have a gooseneck lamp outside the safe which is barely adequate.

I use one of these:
10 LED "T" Light

I stuck it on the outside, just above the door. When I open the safe, I just switch it on and swing it down. I've had to change the batteries once in four years because I left it on for a couple of weeks when I was out of town.

I installed rope lighting when I first got my safe over 20 years ago. No switch, I just plug it in when needed.

Same here. Mine aren't LED though. They were given to me as a gift that I had no idea what to do with them. Then I saw the light above my head and a few zip ties later I can see all the way in the back of my safe. ;)

That inspired LED strip looks great. I figured a 49 inch strip would do. Contacted them as to the size of transformer. Their immediate reply included this image:

i have a large winchester safe...i ran power in to a box so i could plug in a goldenrod and rope lights....works great...it was so dark before

I just modified my safe to get the guns out into the light...

That is really cool - I checked the original link and I figure that you can fit at least 160 (8 x 21 drawers) handguns in a relatively modest safe (about like mine) - any room for a goldenrod in there?

:D Christmas is over with. What about Christmas lights? Some of us rednecks in Tennessee leave Christmas lights up year around so this might not work for all. Don

Hmmm..... where are the pictures of safes with lights

I always have photo's
I used rope light, I tapped into the power cord running to the golden rod.

it lights up the back of the safe pretty well.

I wired in a wall mount motion detector becouse they were cheap, put it in a plastic electric box and set it on a shelf. Works great and I doubt I have $30 in the whole thing.
