While Iggy was sipping coffee and swapping yarns in Laramie (the far side of the Mountain from here) I attended the show sponsored by the Scootsbluff (NE) shooters in Mitchell, NE. Got about 1000 through the door.
Grabbed a clean (but blue wear) J frame in the box and was headed to my table to grab some $$$ when the guy says the dreaded words..."Thats a .32". I never looked just thought I had found a silk purse for $300. I thought it was a flatlatch M36. With out missing a beat I yelled for my buddy Harry to bring his bank bag and grab this one. He is into sub calibers. Turned out to be a M30-1.
Sitting beside it was a 6" Model 19-3 TTT with beautiful dark grips. Only negative is a heavy turn line...but the price was right at $475. It now lives on my table. And not to be a pig I settled down and let the others get into the act. Then struck again on Sunday. Grabbed a Beretta Cheeta Model 84 in the box with all the goodies and two 13 rd. mags for another $475. I di leave him with a nice late model Colt Cobra at $795, just a bit more than I wanted to spend and try to get anything out of it.
Traded four 40S&W Sig mags for a 6" presentation case and tools plus $45 back to me. Made $5 on the mags and got the box for free. Off to Cleveland as soon as Joe gets caught up with the ones he has.
Colt .22s seemed to be the new thing this week. Must have been at least 20 our for sale on scattered across several different tables. Everything from the early ones to the last ones produced. But at $1K+ each just a bit out of my budget, and interest area.
We are seeing a marked increase in attendance at the shows in the last month.
Gilette had over 1700 through the door two weeks ago. Brule, NE (pop 411) had 1400 through the door. Mitchell, NE and Larame both had 900-1000 through the door. And the folks are spending. So that part of the economy seem to be improving, but don't think that what the guys and gals in DC are wanting.
There are some goodies still out there and deals to be had.
Two Wyoming Shows happening in the next two weeks will be up in the North Central part of the state...you can see Montana from there...in Worland, WY. Big Horn Basin Gun Club Show on Saturday and Sunday of this week.
Next week is the Weston County Sportsman's Club Show in Newcastle, WY, way up next to the Black Hills in the north east corner on Saturday and Sunday.
Look for the announcements as we get closer.
Happy Hunting,
