I'm sure its possible. One of the things I liked about American Guns was the finishes they would do. They have an American flag motif on some guys old 29 in one episode. I don't know if it was powder coating or what. You can look it up on youtube.

So a body shop would be able to make it look like gold chrome?
I like the color of the desert eagle gold but id like to know if that same color can be applied to a revolver without affecting performance

defie gold plating please :)

its an electrochemical process where a thin layer of actual gold is deposited on a metallic substrate Its not paint and its not exactly something you want to try at home as it involves chemicals to include some of the most powerful acids on earth as well as other chemicals to include such things as cyanide

Ok so it sounds like gold plating a revolver would mess with performance IF gold platting gets on gun internals, but I want the exterior only.....

Ok now, they don't just dip it in gold.

Complete dis-assembly, plating of appropriate parts, re-assembly then final polish. I don't believe it will effect accuracy.

well assuming your thinking its a matter of dropping a revolver into a plating tank .. yeah it would mess with performance pretty bad ... it would effectively weld it.
The gun must be completely disassembled, polished and cleaned and the individual parts are plated as needed.

plating a gun wouldn't be my favored route ... Engraving and gold inlay is by far more elegant and desirable

Can you post a couple pictures of engraved guns snd gold inlay guns so I get a better idea
Thanx

there is a place in Littleton Colorado that anodizes firearms to what color or pattern you want.
I forgot the name but will find out.
They do very nice work.

I prefer plaid......

Gold is soft, and the guns I have seen that are actually used and carried show wear, some I have seen have wear through the finish. If you are looking for something that is both durable and definitely sets your gun apart from others you might consider one of the ceramic coatings:

Cerakote Coatings

I believe that finish is titanium nitride like you see on drill bits.

As for painting revolvers... just because you can doesn't mean you should... ;)
