is it possible to get a revolver painted to have a metallic gold finish?

It's complimented here with especially nice wood work.

my vote would be for titanium nitride plating. I think this is what IMI uses on their "gold" desert eagles.

I would guess if you were to plate the entire revolver, you would have to buff out the chambers and the barrel to maintain the correct bore sizes.
 
Here's a Colt that was gold-plated about the turn of last century down in Mexico and then engraved. Traces of the gold remain.

BBQ anyone? Western pimp: a Stetson, beaver coat, tooled gun belt.
