One of the big chain stores is advertising 500 round cartons of 22 Long Rifle ammo at $70. That's 10 boxes in a carton so $7 per box for 22 ammo.

In the paper today some guy is trying to cash in on the current panic by selling the 7.62x51 surplus ammo in his garage for $1.50 per round. Another had some 25 round boxes of premium 380 and 9mm JHP ammo. He wants $100 for each. That's $4 a pop for 380s.

Ammunition is the new gold.

THINGS are only worth whatever SOMEONE will pay for them.

Months from now you might find that those prices were a STEAL.

If HYPER INFLATION ever hits, that will really impress you.

Stand back boys I'm goin' in ...

... for about a thousand bucks in the classifieds!

Look on. Gunbroker. Those 550 federal packs sold for $147 a PAIR last night. Crazy. Sold 1,000 rnds of Winchester to a guy for $100 and he wanted more

It's easy to drop $100 just taking the wife out for dinner and a couple adult beverages. So what's it going to be... an afternoon of .22 plinking with the boys or taking the wife out to dinner? Easy choice if I had to make it. :D

I fell into a deal on RP 525 packs of Golden hollow[oints way back in 2006. I bought two, 5250 rd cases Super cheap.

STILL shooting up stuff I buy cheap at gun shows, garage sales, etc. Haven't even broke into it yet.

I've said it again and again....Anyone who didn't start stocking up was a fool. Especially post November 6th. Anyone with any sense should have figured out he would try some gun legislation.

I don't get it. Even figuring a worst case scenario for an AWB (which almost everyone agrees is unlikely to pass), NOBODY is proposing banning .22 rimfire ammo (or any other ammo). So panic buying used up the available supply, but why would anyone actually pay these ridiculous prices now, when the suppliers will be pumping out .22s by the billions soon enough?

While going through some supplies, I came across some of these. Kind of a throw back to me, because I don't know of any hardware stores around here that sell ammo anymore. Probably overpaid at the time.

How sad we are becoming our own worst enemy.

Which is worse? Panicking fools that buy everything in site for outrageous prices that dry up the market and drive prices even higher?

Or is it the gougers that take advantage of the fools to make a quick buck? Sometime I wonder if they aren't more dangerous than Diane Feinstein or Chuckie Schumer to the shooting sports.

I have wondered if one could create a need for flaming dog feces in the shooting sports and then tell people they can't have it, how high the price would climb.

Ammo is the new currency because everyone and their Granny now owns an AR platform rifle. I sold off some .223 yesterday for $900 to a pair of fellers who just bought ARs at my LGS. Steel = .70c/round & Brass = $1.00/round. Them's fair market prices around here, the LGS is bone dry, AND there is no .223 to be found anywhere. I didn't twist anyone's arm, and the proceeds from ammo I am no longer using went toward the purchase of two mil-spec rifles I will enjoy for years.

I'm just waiting for things to get back to normal.

Soon all the plastic will be maxed out, and I will show up once again:D

At the Circleville Ohio show yesterday the 100 pack CCI Mini Mags were priced at 10.95 + tax.

Rumor has it that cleaning patches are also going up so hang on to your drawers fellas even the stained ones will be worth gold.

Wow, I have a box just like that Remington one, says something like 1989 on the bottom of it, and pretty much for the same price. :D

For what they are, cleaning patches are already outrageously expensive. They seriously expect that a bag that size is worth $15 or $20!?

Man, I am so glad I'm well stocked on .22LR. I began stocking way before this madness hit......NOT because I saw it coming but because simply......why not? It's cheap, or at least it used to be.:D

$70 for a brick of .22? Crazy!

This is what I do also. Panickers will panic, spend all their cash and start crying about it. I already picked up 2000 small pistol magnum primers from a guy needing cash to pay down his plastic. He offered me a very good price and I payed him.

Pity for those who refuse to learn from the past is in short supply from me. But I do pity new members to the shooting community that are currently caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place.
