Do you remember Firesign Theatre?

My late wife worked in a (actually the) head shop on Hollywood Blvd in 1970 - it was called Pipe Dreams.
Anyone here remember it?

Anyway - One evening 3 of the 4 members of Firesign Theatre came in to buy a case of rolling papers for a party they were having
While there they did an impromptu *bit* that had everyone in the store in stitches - It was great :)

One of the founders, Peter Bergman, passed away from cancer almost a year ago today (9 MAR 12) he was 72.

They were great. I don't think I have an album, though. I'll have to break out the vinyl and have a look.

"Don't crush that dwarf, hand ME the pliars!"

One of my favorite printer and email test messages, along with "Weasels ripped my flesh!"

Never saw them in person but listened (repeatedly) to several of their albums while in college in the late '70s. My favorite is Hemlock Stones and The Giant Rat of Sumatra.

"How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?"

I have a vague recollection of "Ralph's Spoilsport Motors" and "Shoes for Industry".

Many, many fond memories, though admittedly, some are kind of hazy...I wasn't too particular about "recreational" consumption back then,if you know what I mean!;) We used to put on Firesign when we wanted to clear out the loadies from the apartment. It would just mess with their minds too much!

"And this drunken madman came driving into the living room and stopped on a dime! Unfortunately, the dime was in Mr. Roccoco's pocket...."

"Everything You Know is Wrong" and "Forward Into the Past" were favorites of mine as well as Two Places and Dwarf/Pliers.

On a whim I went to Itunes & a lot of their albums are still available. I might pick up a few to see if I still find their humor funny.

"Your papers, please."
"I ...only have a pipe."
"Then you'll have to come with me."

At fourth and Drucker he turned left, at Drucker and fourth he turned right and walked into a Great Sandstone building.

Nick Danger, Third Eye.
