Absent Comrade
Ellis was an officer with the police department in the small but busy city of Bardstown, KY. He was a family man with two small children who had been with the Bardstown department for seven years. He was regarded as a very fine LEO.
He was 33 years old.
Driving a pool car without a dash cam instead of his assigned vehicle, he stopped on his way home after his shift to clear debris that had apparently been deliberately planted on an exit ramp. His emergency flashers were on. He was shot multiple times with buckshot from ambush and died without having time to draw his service weapon. It is believed that he was targeted and the shooting was not random.
His funeral is today, and 2300 flags placed by volunteers line the 23-mile route of the procession to lay him to rest.
Please pray for his young family and all the families of officers who have died serving their communities. What we owe them can never really be repaid.
I get so tired of stories like this.
