No surprises there. Many people living in NYC think the entire country ends at the border of that city, life beyond it is of little importance at best. His humble and understanding response to that situation is a quality he is unlikely to find in the majority of the city's residents.

I dunno. I know some rural farm/ranch folk that are not poor, and their work dress is pretty much like the folks on Duck Dynasty.

NYC has different values. When we lived in San Antonio, a NYC lawyer went to work for the firm I worked at. One day he was telling me his tale of woe about trying to find a place to live in San Antonio. He claimed it was impossible to find an upscale neighborhood/subdivision of professional types. Everywhere he and his wife looked they found PU trucks and suburbans parked in the driveways. To him, the fact that one drove a PU was an indication that they were a lowly blue color worker. I guess he never noticed that the senior partners in the firm all drove PUs. The guy soon went back to NYC. Texas was not civilized enough for him.

I think this is an awesome tv show and the best show on tv right now. This family is awesome. Having money from making duck calls is awesome. There rich and never forgot there roots plus there down to earth people.
Don't let there looks fool you there no dummies. They still hunt and eat off the land. Uncle Si is awesome with Phil not too far behind. I love this show.

Most Americans have there nose up in the air because they have money and were they live. Material things doesn't make us rich. Having an awesome Family makes us rich. Money does nothing without family were lost in the dark with no flash lite.

To be fair, only homeless folk look like the cast of that show. Goes to show ya', money can't buy you happiness....or in this case.....
I'm not homeless and I look pretty much like them. As do bikers, and many hard working people who I know and have met that live in mountain and desert towns. Money CAN buy these guys the same image as the people that look down on them, but they choose not to.

I've got to say these folks are class acts. Something like this happens and they find humor and laugh it off. They don't even want the employee to get in trouble. How many others would be offended that their "dignity" was questioned and demand an apology and compensation. When we talk about real down to earth people there they are. Folks who are comfortable with who they are and where they're from. No wonder the show is so popular.

Look like a bum and you get treated like one...at least in NYC.

I'm not a fan of reality shows, and have never watch the Duck folks. But I certainly do applaud the Gentleman's response to the situation.

Kind of like the attitude of Austrians toward Hungary. They used to have a saying, "Asia begins three miles east of Vienna."

New Yorkers, like citizens of most very large cities, tend to be among the most provincial people in the world. They figure if it isn't happening there it can't matter.

Of course, all generalizations are unsafe. Including this one. ;)

Most of the people passing by Trump Tower, and walking around most of Manhattan for that matter, are from either out of state or out of the country. You can tell, they're either looking up or have a camera in their hands.
People sure do make a lot of assumptions around here.

Glad he took it all in stride. I might have taken a different
approach had it been me but then i'll never be in his position.
Everywhere i go i see these guys clothing/accessories for
sale. Their pictures are on everything right now. Am i missing
something? They make duck calls and hunt.:rolleyes:
Just wondering when there 15 minutes of fame are up.
I'm sure they are good old down home country boys but
WTH ?????? So are alot of people including myself.
Are full beards worth that kind of money these days ??
If so, i'm having a sit down with the wife today explaining
to her why i am starting mine pronto. :D:D:D

I like these guys because they make a product other people choose to buy (unlike healthcare that you HAVE to buy), it's in the private sector, they became millionaires doing it, and they seem to be down to earth folks. It gives a little hope that that whole "American dream" thing is still possible even though people are trying real hard to kill that spirit.

I'm not surprised about his treatment. Most folks make initial assumptions based on looks.
As for the duck show, it's ok as far as reality shows go.
IMO, it's still a scripted plot and for entertainment purposes only but is above average for most TV shows today. I sometimes watch it with g-kids and consider it wholesome but personally I'm not a fan.

Check into the back story!! You will love them even more.

Terry Bradshaw was Phil Robertson's back-up quarter back.
Phil (the dad) gave up professional football because it interfered with duck hunting.

These are people who are true to themselves and have become successful because they are admirable.

I'd rather have my kids watching the Robertsons than most other TV shows. ;)

Willie I believe got a marketing degree and he is putting their likeness EVERYWHERE!!!! :D
