Gents, I have a 12 Ga. Zoli side-lock O/U with two sets of barrels which I traded a Colt AR-15 with a .22LR conversion kit, many years ago. Now I want to sell it and I cant find very much data, Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jack
I`ll post some photos soon as I can

Jack- Do an internet search on your gun. There were two Zoli's, the Angelo Zoli guns, and the Antonio Zoli guns. They are two completely different makers, with the Angelo guns being rather inexpensive, not all that well made, and out of business.

The Antonio Zoli guns are a lot higher grade gun. They have been in business since the 1800's, and can range from $600 or $700 to many thousands, depending on model and grade. They have an active web site that may be able to provide you with more info on your gun. Being a side lock gun with an extra barrel set, it may be worth a lot more than you might think.

Larry

It seems like there are always at least two sometimes more gunmakers in Italy using the same name. The low end guys jump in using a name similiar to the high end guys. The top Italian makers are as good as they come and pricey especially their shotguns. The bottom makers are just bottom makers. Apparently the trade mark laws afford little protection there.

Here`s a couple of pix

In the 20th century shotguns made under the name "A. Zoli" also. My understanding is that the current Antonio and Angelo are very close relatives (something like 1st cousins) and some of Angelo's guns were quite nice and some later ones were not so nice. Ivan

I think the model is 'St. George(s)'
Ive seen them listed both ways,,,St. George,, and St. Georges
Made in Skeet,,Trap,,probably other configurations. Sporting Clays maybe. Maybe just a hunting model as it has 2 sets of bbls.
Not much bbl changing going on in the clay target games,,just plenty of choke tube switcheroo.

Some St George(s) have the side plates as this one does,,some do not. So again probably another variant designation in there.
Case colored finish on some,,'Coin' finish on others.

The side plates are called 'false sideplates' as they mimic the looks of a sidelock action. It being actually a boxlock action with the false sideplates fitted. The reason is to enhance the looks and to give greater area for engraving.
Can't help w/a price range,,not up on the newer stuff.
Not sure if it came from Antonio or Angelo,,but should say somehere on the gun.

I've owned 3 or 4 A. Zoli guns. Some were obviously nicer than others. All were presumed to be a "cheap" import. I bought a NIB Sporting Clays A. Zoli from a dealer who did not have any idea on value. He thought it was a cheap import set up for clays.

I got it way below reason. I'm not ashamed because I had no idea of value. To find out I called the Factory in Italy. Per the factory in about 1986 or 87; The Father made expensive SS shotguns. The oldest brother made high priced O/U shotguns, Brother #2 made medium priced O/U and the youngest brother made cheaper priced entry level O/U guns.

All brothers used the same actions. Embellishment, fit and wood quality made the difference.

If you have a Zoli O/U and it looks more expensive, it truely may be.

I was lucky, my Sporting Clays gun was made by the oldest brother. The factory mailed me price lists and verified by SN what mine was.

I took it to a spring Tulsa gun show, someone who did high dollar shotguns had a Westley Richards Duck gun, looked new. Sporting clays were at the point no one could get enough Sporting clays guns in. He traded me the Westley Richards straight across for the A. Zoli and my gun was valued higher...... But it looked good sitting next to my Cogswell and Harrison 375 H&H. For a short while I may have been into English guns.... It's over now.

A true sidelock usually has pins you can see in the sideplates. The pins are where everything mounts inside. You're screws are timed, all the same direction except the one behind the safety. What are the bbl lengths and gauges? Larry

Larry , it is 12 ga I don`t remember the barrel lengths I`ll measure them when I get a chance and I`ll do more photos too.

I measured the barrels and they seem to be unusual 26 3/4 & 28 inches

Just to confuse things the barrels are marked Anton Zoli , but the receiver is Antonio Zoli and it has the drawn bow and arrow mark.
I want to sell it ,but I also want to price it fairly and not over or under price it.
Any suggestions will be much appriciated.
I have searched all of the sites I could think of and I come up empty, maybe I`m doing something wrong.

Looks over all to be the better made gun. The receiver looks to have I believe the Kersten (?) lock like the SKB's. Its a strong hook up and the wood is nice. I agree abt signing up at shotgun world to get an idea of value. Larry
