Dilemma: Favorite Gun

Not at all a hard choice: It would be the Essex frame, GI parts, government model 45, I carried in S.E.A., which saved my life one day when a BG thought I wasn't paying attention to his behavior. His mistake. I made it home, he didn't.
There is nothing fancy about it, and it has some slight modifications from when it was worn on my side in the sweat zone. Still, it's the one I'd take with, if I ever had to return to a hot zone.

Sounds like my carry 1911 I built in 1982!

W. Richards 12 gauge SxS with side lever. It's tight, and I only fire it with black powder cartridges when my grandson wants to shoot it; he will own it next and will be of the sixth generation in the family to own and use it. The shotgun came from England with my maternal grandmother's father as he passed through on his way to the wilds of NE Iowa from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany in the 1890s.

It's objectively worth a couple of hundred bucks, but is not for sale for a million.

If I am going to lug it around at church, I'll have people wanting to look and touch at a dinner event. That requires a handgun and have a decent holster. I have some that fit but would take a Ruger Mark II target rather than get one of my Smiths passed around greasy hands. Put it in the varmit pistol class.

If yours was put together by a Marine stationed in Barstow, CA, it might be mine's younger sibling. I got it in late 1971 before I started my second tour.

You're like me, can't decide an absolute favorite that surpasses all others, so you pigeonhole each and every one into its very own category, making them ALL your favorites. I can play that game.

Favorite gun overall is a 1966 S&W model 57 that is as close to mint as you can get in a gun you occasionally shoot. Original grips in the safe and nice Spegel grips on the gun

I would be hard pressed to name a favorite gun, and would likely have a differen't one tomorrow.

Not quite as hard is naming a useful gun: this one sthands out (the load is a 260 Lee loaded out long to allow for the use of 2400 or a like powder - the group is three shots at 25 yards - it is sighted POA/POI at 75 yards and hits exactly 2" high at 25).

1955 and 25 yard group - lee 260fp at 1100 fps.jpg

The gun is a 1955 Target - no model # made in 1955, it is a 5". It was finished in black chrome by the previous owner.
