Well, off to the Gun show in Robstown, see y'all later.

I don't have a nice RM yet. Mind picking one up for me? At least 95% please. :D

I did better. I picked up another case of Salsa Verde and $25 worth of different beef jerky. :D I would have spent more on those goodies but, one of my Nephews arrived but needed to borrow $75, so he could have enough money to get a Vaquero .45 which was a beautiful piece.

Oh and VERY sad news to report, no gun show in January, but one in Feb.

Ill make a better gun show report after I get Shasta off my lap--HER bed) and make dinner. :-)) I wou;d try posting now but, she is using ,y typing hand as HER pillow and im hen-pecking typing now. :D

what time do guns shows start in your part of the country? you'd be called a part timer if you showed up at noon in my area and you'd be fishing seriously used water. rburg, GF, fugate bros, whitey and mike all get there before the doors open so if you hope to get any part of the worm you got to get out way before breakfast. :D

Depends on which show you go to. Far as I know, we only have two who put them on here. 1) The Shriners 2) Saxet shows. I only go to Saxet shows because the Shriners shows are small and normally only have a few old guys selling off parts of their over-priced collection of rust-bucket shotguns and stuff almost nobody wants.

Saxet shows are a different World. Anyway, dunno when Shriners opens but, Saxet opens 9 am Sat, closes at 6pm, Sunday opens at 10 and closes at 5.

Breakfast? what's that? :D

Buy me something...

Sure, they had a lot of bumper stickers that had great sayings on them as well as urinal stickers featuring every ones favorites on them as well as lots of Beef, Pork and Chicken Jerkys. :D I wish I had room now for more to eat? as ive been wanting a piece of that Pepper jerky I got.

OK, report time.

Ammo: All still over-priced by at least 50% or more depending what caliber you want? I saw lots of 22 available and mostly at 2-3 certain dealers tables. A few had 550 round bricks from between $60-to-I think? $120????? A few had the 325 round packs priced at least triple what you will see IF you can get them from Academy or WM. Any low end 50 rd boxes still $8 to $12--and this is for Lightning as well as Winchester stuff. Most 9MM still double normal price. The only caliber I saw that seem to have lowered was .45. Some of it was actually over $1 a cartridge, most was around .50 cents a cartridge, and I saw one dealer with it for about 40 cents a cartridge.

I spoke with one arrogant dealer with a table full of ammo who tried to justify being a scalper. He lost my business immediately and tried his best to get my business by crying me a river. I walked away and went about my journey. About an hour after leaving said jerk, I saw him in a back room or--the shows "dealer overflow room" at another dealers table buying much of the 22 he had. I did notice few if any-attendees buying ammo except dealer to dealer.

Reloading supplies a plenty. I almost bought some kits for 9mm, but passed them up because of not yet doing enough homework on what I need for reloading as well as what prices these kits might normally be priced at. Several dealers with bags and bags of cartridge casings, bullets, some with powder and primers. I didnt bother trying to remember prices on that stuff, since I dont know what good prices for that stuff normally are?

Prices on several makes of AR rifles were well under or slightly under a grand. Lots of Colts new and vintage, coming out of the woodwork as well as Smiths. Im seeing more and more dealers with Henry Lever action rifles--several calibers. Same with Winchesters. Im also seeing new made Garands, Carbines, yadda yadda yadda.

Lots of different makers for .45s and more vintage 45s and many varying prices on that stuff from about $600 to almost $3 grand.

I gained about 5 more new contacts for different things. On and, a guy who makes custom wood grips for about any hand gun you can think of. Seems to have a decent price. They ranged from between about $60 to around $100--which was better than the last guy who came there doing the same thing. What's even better-is this guy is local.

All kinds of magazines are getting cheaper by about 33% less than just about 2 months ago.

The damned Beef Jerky is still over priced IMO :D :D Instead of two huge pieces for $5, should be 5 for $5, but the lady I spent $25 with, didnt buy my opinion on that. :D

Lately, I've found that gun shows are only worth going to if you have something you want to sell. The dealers are so over priced on their tables that if you come in with something, you'll have the best bargain at the show. But, even if you sell at a profit, you can't afford what they have.
I have sold at a show before, then took my money to a local shop on Monday and made a made a good deal.

You left out the Gulf Coast Gun Show in Aransas Pass. They hold about 6 of them a year and prices tend to be a bit lower than at the Saxet shows. Most of the Aransas Pass shows are medium sized and have a bit of everything. The next one is Jan 18-19th. I didn't feel like driving all the way to Robbstown this weekend, so I will hit the AP show in a couple of weeks.

BTW for those that don't know, the show at Robstown is billed as a Corpus Christi show. Robstown seems to be sort of a suburb of Corpus. Corpus (the jewel of the coast) is the big city for this part of the world.

KID
I gave up gun shows.
Blessings

Dong give em all up yet. The Saxet shows are good, very good. Im friends w/ several who sell there and have great contacts for deals on guns and such, just once in awhile, we get a few sellers who can try messin up your day. Those I find out immediately and just ignore.

Kid, I wasn't aware that Robstown, TX. was big enuf for a gun show. Must be another Robstown. :) :)

You found the same thing I found when I went up to the Alamo City last weekend for the gun show. Must be the same crew.

Actually, it's not in Robstown popular, but held at the Richard Borchard Fairgrounds just off HWY 77 heading to Calallen. The building they set up in is pretty huge and at times close to par with larger shows. Next show is 2nd week of Feb.

The shows here do have a lot of dealers who are overpriced but several who are on the level and only make a slight profit. I dont know if they have a website yet? but try Southland Arms--they will do you correctly. Through 2014, I plan on buying a Rock Island and an Auto Ordnance GI 45 from them, a Henry 30-30- or .357 lever action, a side by side double barrel shotgun that looks like a Greener, and possibly a Polish PPS 43-C.

Ive never been to one of theirs but know at last 3 dealers who set up there. They are pretty good on prices. One who sets up there is from Rockport and is also willing to make deals. I cant think of his name off-hand.

What Harrison said. Its also more like the Corpus Christi area with the towns of: Robstown, Calallan, Annaville attached.
