This author has two shows, Brad Meltzer's Decoded" and the new one, "Brad Meltzer's Lost History". This latest show is about tracking down lost or stolen historical items. And some segments show success stories finding this stuff. Like the twice stolen Teddy Roosevelt Rough Rider pistol, for example. These show combine history, treasure hunting, and investigating which is why I like 'em.

I watch it now and then. I saw an interesting one about the Lincoln / John Wilkes Booth pistol a few weeks ago.

You are correct. Love his shows. I'm really drawn to them. Some of the best work on TV.

I don't know about his personal life and ideals, but he sure is a great researcher and story teller.

I've met the former FBI agent (Robert Wittman) on his show. He wrote a book a few years ago which is a very interesting and easy read. It's called "Priceless: How I Went Undercover to Rescue the World's Stolen Treasures" and I highly recommend it. My college professor made us read it, and he came in and talked about his investigations for the FBI. He seems like a stand up guy.
