Need 25th year wedding anniversary ideas?
It's coming up in June, anyone have suggestions/ideas on where to go? We're not big fans of ocean liners or jumping out of an airplane. We've been to Alaska and Disney World. Just plain simple aging midwestern folks. Thanks...

I bought my wife a 25th Anniversary convertible Pontiac Trans Am GT. Seemed somehow appropriate for our 25th anniversary!

For your 25th take her to Europe, for your 50th go back and get her.
Congratulations to you both . Maybe a nice portrait of the two of you, that gift would be appreciated by everyone in your family for generations.
Of course some nice new clothes or Jewelry fit for the occasion would be a good thing too.

Need 25th year wedding anniversary ideas?
Paris.
The air fares are good, along with the Euro exchange rates. You'll have a great time in one of the best cities on our planet.
She'll also be there with you to celebrate with you again on your 50th.
Worked for me!

For a great getaway, Door County Wisconsin is hard to beat. Many fine places to stay, many to eat. Beautiful scenery, interesting shops. Not as romantic as Paris, but a lot less hassle.

Your OP knocks my suggestion out of the running. For our 25th (in June of '06) we flew to Honolulu and did a 7-day cruise of the islands with a two day post-cruise layover for me to "do" Pearl Harbor. Loved it.
Congratulations on your 25th anniversary.... whatever you decide to do to celebrate it!

Don't rule out the big boats. I took my wife for a carribean cruise for our 25th and it was the absolute best vacation we ever had.
The crew on that boat has one job, to spoil you rotton. They are very good at it!

well for our 25th, our daughter was married just a couple months before so that sort of took precedent that year.
But.... for our 20th (close enough lol), while on a trip to FL i surprised her with a sunrise (on the beach) renewal of our vows that i had all set up beforehand. Went quite well.

Congratulations!
Have you ever been to New England?
There are some beautiful places up there.
Lodging from quaint B&B.s. to four star resorts.
Food from clam shacks to ultra fine dining.
Mountains or ocean.
Newport, R.I. is a great place to spend a week. The bay, the ocean, the old robber baron mansions, and great seafood.
Cape Cod, the White Mountains in N.H., anywhere in Vermont, Maine coast or mountains (gotta watch out for the Maineiacs, though ).
Hikes, day boat trips, fishing, history, and food. Lots of good food.
Of course June is the high season, so if you want to go, you'd better plan right now.
No matter what you do, have a great time.

If you've never been to the islands, surprise her and book a room at the Kaua'i Marriott Resort Kaua'i, HI. The two of you can get there and stay for 5 days for about $3k and do lots of things. She will not be disappointed and you will NEVER forget the trip...promise. We did it for our 30th and love this island the best of all.

A pair of Model 25s.
One blue, one nickle.
Since it is your anniversary be sure to get the box and tools for both.
LET HER PICK OUT WHICH ONE SHE WANTS!

One of the thing only YOU can do, is put thought into the things she and you like. I got a large wicker picnic hamper (big basket) and filled it with thing she liked (and I could stand to do with her). I started with a card on the outside telling her that "25 years with her was a picnic." some suggestions will follow, but these items can be small and symbolic or of exaggerated size for effect. Of course the cost will be entirely up to you. Ivan
25 of her favorite candy bars (I went with the little ones, so she won't complain about calories)
25 favorite movies (include the movie from first date!)
25 gift cards to restaurants (that means 25 dates)
Dance lessons for both of you
25 cards of best wishes from old friends-takes alot of prep! (send about 40 out and hope you get 25 back!)
A framed photo of the two of you when you were dating.
You get the idea. Our anniversary is in May, we often go to the NRA convention, but I think she prefers to stay home. Ivan

Very nice.
Better than tossing a dead seal in the front yard and saying "I thought you'd like a romantic dinner for our anniversary. Call me when it's ready."
I know, I'm just a romantic old *******.

You're in Ohio, so why not Mackinac Island, not a bad drive from you and the Grand Hotel knows how to put on a good show. I am also a huge fan of Glacier National Park in Montana (I would argue one of the prettiest places I have ever been) and while this is out of my budget, a Great Lakes Cruise looks like a fun time.

Either way hope you enjoy another 25 years.

Can't go wrong taking her to "Aussie" land. Country is beautiful and the locals are the best. I lived there for 7 years and trust me I know! Only problem is the long air travel (14 hours just from LA to Sydney).

I hear you on the big ocean liners, no way.
We went on a Wind Star cruise.
Smaller boats, I believe 150 people plus crew.
Great food.
The peak of formal dress was decent slacks and a sportshirt, no ties/coats.
There is no room for a big pool and the casino was very small.
We docked at a different island in the carribean every day and usually went a shore and sailed mostly at night.
We liked it a lot.

I won't say what you should do but I'll say what I'd do.
Keep in mind I'm not as big a spender as some on here.
I'd prolly take her to the LGS of her choice or search gunjoker and buy her a nice S&W of mostly her choice.
Seriously though, congrats on making 25.

I asked this very same question on our 25th.
She, the Hen, said new house locks and I will have all the keys---then she went and hires a pool boy even though we don't have a pool.
We have been married 53 this June---am I slow ?
Blessings

What do you like to do? Do you like museums? Or history? Culture? Architecture? Sitting by the beech?
Italy, Vatican, Paris, Madrid, Lisbon. I would also say Prague. It's beautiful but it's also a city for young people. If you like to start your evening at 12 am and end at 7am it's the place to be. However don't give up on it. Check online I'm sure there are things for older Midwestern folks too. Go to Norway and see the fjords!
There is also an awesome Europe river cruise. It's luxurious and travels down some of the oldest rivers and biggest cities in Europe. You're not on an ocean liner.
If you like history and you're religious. ..Israel and Vatican.
There are so many cool places around the world. ....just depends on what you like to see and do

For "plain simple aging Midwestern folks", here are a few plain, simple ideas, depending on your likes and/or your budget:
1. Take a small-ship cruise on a river or the Intracoastal Waterway. American Cruise Lines operates a fleet of seven small ships which carry between 50 and 150 passengers each. They sail on the Mississippi, and along both coasts, and are reasonably priced.
US River Cruises | American Cruise Lines
2. If you're the kind of folks who like to visit museums, the Henry Ford and Greenfield Village are in Dearborn, Michigan, not too far from you. They're well worth seeing. While you're on the way up there, stop in Toledo and grab a Tony Packo's Hungarian hot dog!
The Henry Ford - The place where you discover your potential through America?s History
Tony Packo's Cafe - Tony Packo's
3. You're a short flight away from Washington, D.C. (Southwest flies nonstop between Columbus and Baltimore-Washington International Airport). You could spend an entire week there and only scratch the surface of things to see or do in that area: the various Smithsonian museums...Arlington National Cemetery...the Washington Monument...the National Archives...the US Capitol...the Vietnam Memorial...the Holocaust Memorial and Museum, the Spy Museum...the Newseum...the NRA National Firearms Museum, etc., etc., etc. We all like to make fun of DC, but it is a beautiful city, especially in early summer.
4. If you want to take a road trip, and do some sightseeing, try the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is about 400 miles from Columbus. It's gorgeous, and there is a lot to see and do there. When you leave the Park, you could head back home via the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, which are simply magnificent. The northern terminus of Skyline Drive is in Front Royal, Virginia, about 350 miles from your home.
Congratulations on your anniversary, and best wishes for many more years with your bride!

I bought my wife a $2500 diamond ring for my wife on our 25th. I do all of the toy buying, so she was overdue . I got a new Colt Combat Elite.
Our 30th is in a few days.

Take a drive down through the Hocking Hills and spend a nice weekend in Marietta at the Lafayette Hotel. If you're into it, there are a lot of antique shops around the area. Also there's Fenton glass over in West Virginia. You can take a route North on your way back and visit similar places up toward Belaire of if you like the River scene, head towards Portsmouth and then up through Washington Court House.
Another direction would be Cincinnati and all the horse farms and southern charm through Kentucky.
LOTS of options very near to home.
YES, I grew up in Ohio (Cleveland area)!!!!! Went to school in Marietta, lived 10 of the best years of my adult life in Columbus, and another 6 in Cincinnati!
CONGRATS on 25! My 13th is Monday, we started late, WAY late
